Themes
The main idea was based on it being a LOWREZ game, but the most suitable theme turned out to be Unconventional Weapon.

Tools
Well, Defold as a game engine is transparent, lightweight, but some features either need to be searched for or added, which is also a plus in a way. Aseprite for art is an excellent tool in this case. BandLab for music - I hope to eventually compose something for the game.

Lessons
I learned a lot about game rendering, how the rendering pipeline works in Defold. A lot about shaders as well. And many other small things, which is in the future may come in handy in other games together or separately.

I really liked the use of the magnifier in this game! It's a unique and creative addition to the game and it really helped making the game feel more complete. I would've loved to see more enemies and a longer lasting game, because I do think this had a lot of potential! Great job!

First off - it looks great. I love the different zoom levels - that's a really awesome use of 64x64, having the opportunity for more detailed tiles/sprites when zoomed. And that zoom itself is a cool mechanic and it'll be great to see that developed further. Nice submission!!

Beautiful game.  One of the best I've seen!

Cool idea! I like the way you followed the resolution guidelines and still managed to put some higher res art in, super clever! I did have a weird bug where I died right when I was zooming in, and it seemed to mess up my ability to shoot. Overall it was a really cool entry!

Hey! I tried to fix the controls, remapped the attack and aiming. Checked the mouse control, and found it was completely broken after I added camera following to the aim. I uploaded the fixed version as a separate project. This is not for rating; I plan to continue adding updates there.

Thank you all for the feedback! It seems I got so used to the dirty controls that I forgot to change them :D In theory, this could also work with a gamepad, but it needs to be tested. I’m thinking about how the keyboard controls could be improved. I would appreciate any suggestions :)

It's a little difficult to control, i felt like i was dancing with two left feet. But the idea is really cool. Especially how the environment gets zoomed in upon. Did you just make 2 art assets for everything, one at each resolution level? That was really well done. Cool demo, keep up the great work!

Yes, these are two different sets of images. Even two sets of game objects. The larger one has all the necessary collision checks, controls, and so on. And the smaller ones are just objects with sprites that copy everything from the larger objects.

When aiming, we see a render target that draws a fragment of the world with the larger sprites.

The graphics are very beautiful. Timing an attack is tricky, but I guess it is a part of the challenge.

Looking forward to see more than a demo! :)

Looking forward to the a full game. One thing that was weird is the attack button, because its below WASD, not sure if it was intended to only move or attack

It's a fun demo.
It took me some time to figure out how to hit the monster on the cliff.

The aiming mechanics is innovative.

Hoping you make a full version :)
