How does your game fit the theme?
The character cannot breath at the toxic areas at the map, and when stays there for a short time, the character will have to take a deep breath before it continues the adventure.

I didn;t get to vote on this one BUT THE ANIMALS ARE SO CUTE!!! Any favorite pixel art videos or guides? good luck :')
Thanks! At youtube you can type "draw pixel art" and some good ones will show up, and they give nice tips to start, like this by Goodgis. Keep a file with a lot of drawings helps too.
Omg thank you!! I've gone through the dreaded donut tutorial but I do have to say pixel art ALWAYSSS wins me over lolll. Sorry for the questions but how did you get your sprites on your jam page submission?? I would love to do that when I do my next jam
At Aseprite I export the animation as a gif, at 200% from original size, and when editing the page I just add the exported gifs as images.
Excellent sprite work! With the absolutely greatest choices in music! So much character! Reminds me of old snes Final Fantasies a bit. I saw some development footage from this in Discord during the jam, but I had no idea what kind of adventure was here waiting! Fantastic job!
Thanks for the comment! I put a lot of work to its retro style. I'll start to work at the full game soon too, with a bigger world and better systems.
Love it!
I'm glad that you liked! Thanks for playing it.
Great! Awesome quick Metroidvania and it was super cute and fun.
Art style is amazing and sounds are on point. Just looks really nice and cute. Esp liked the way of showing communication.
I feel the theme was not in the game. Yes, the toxic breathing thing, but if it was removed I wouldn't even notice. Pretty sure there weren't any toxic areas in the later levels.
Combat was also quite meh. Having to click K as fast as possible is just not skillful or fun in any way. The boss fight I was just vibrating my finger on the K key and jumping.
But still, if you fixed those things and gave the game a bit more personality on the gameplay side it would be a great finished product.
Thanks for the constructive feedback and for playing it!
Great game! Solid art, animations, music and sound design. Loved the little deer mount! Everything felt polished and played well. Great work!
Thank you for the review! 💗
A lovely experience, Everything was perfect except getting the double jump was hard for me lol. (Frustratingly hard) But that was overlooked as I went on. Cute Characters. Proper Sound/Music SFX. Artwork/Animations are top notch. A clean explorative level design as well.
Top Top Game, mate. Well Done!
Thanks for playing and for the review! I'm sorry for that double jump part 😅

Really cute pixel art, sound design is amazing. The gameplay felt smooth too. Great job.
Thank you for playing and for the review. I tried my best to make the movement smooth. All sounds were made using chiptone (free software by sfbgames), I really recommend it.
This is the best game I have played in this game jam so far. It is really astonishing that you made this polished game alone in 10 days!! Hats off to you.! ❤️
Thank you for playing and for the review. During the GameJam period I worked non-stop on it everyday. I really appreciate that you liked the game!
Really polished! Art, sound design, and the overall presentation is extremely charming. Gameplay flows naturally and the world feels free and fun to explore. I encountered a bug though; I wasn't able to respawn at some point near the endgame. Still a 10/10 for me.
Thank you for playing and for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed. So sorry for the bug, it seems that it rarely fails to respawn for some reason :(
Soooo cute! Love the pixel art.
Thank you for playing and for the review. I'm glad you liked it.
Loved your game! I was instantly intimidated by the amount of polish your game has. The fact that you made this all yourself in 10 days is inspiring. I've been striving for this level of quality in my own work.

Theme (3/5)

While the "Take a deep breath" mechanic was clever and well implemented, it fails to play a central role in the game. I love all of your mechanics, including this one, but it feels like just another feature.
Gameplay (4/5)

I had a blast exploring the world you made! I loved getting my deero and having him wherever I went. I loved how we found powerups together, and that he was there cheering me on from the sidelines as I defeated the final boss. Deero is the hero!
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the narrative style, while adorable, was a bit confusing. I'm still not sure why I fought the boss, nor how the other sprouty's have any bearing on the narrative (other than being freaking adorable; and somewhat menacing at first lol)
Implementation (5/5)

*Chef's kiss*
I found one or two little bugs with how deero spawned in. I also struggled with platforming to get the jump upgrade. These trivial implementation issues were not enough to make me dock points from the rating. I really loved how polished your game was. Like I said before, your work is inspiring.
Presentation (5/5)

Loved everything about the presentation INCLUDING the Microsoft-Paint-style opening cutscene. How did you do the pixle art? Any suggestions for someone who's looking to learn the craft?
Bravo, fam! Bravo!
Creativity (4/5)

You've done a spectacular job at applying several video game tropes in a new and unique way. I give you 4 stars for bringing everything together in such a charming way. If there were something particularly unique or new I would have given 5. That said, sometimes being too unique can be distracting. I appreciate what you've done here.
Great work! I loved your game! I played all 5 of my queue before rating them, and yours stands out as the best of the 5. Thanks for a great experience.
What a nice and well detailed review, I really appreciated it! Thank you for playing it. Loved what you said about Deero 💗 . I do the pixel art with Aseprite. The Microsoft-Paint-style was made there with the brush-size 2. I recommend you using a fixed collor pallet, at https://lospec.com/palette-list there a lot good ones.
Thank you so much!!!
As someone who's very new to pixel art are there any tutorials you recommend for aseprite?
At youtube you can type "draw pixel art" and some good ones will show up, and they give nice tips to start, like this by Goodgis, but don't limit yourself by 100% what the tutorials say, listen to the tips, and pick those that better suit or make sense to you. I learn by doing a lot of mockups for personal projects that I never released 😅. Some tips I can give is, with a small canvas (128x128 or 256x256) start to make small sprites (8x8 to 16x16, but you are free to choose any size) and make random things and different versions from it, this helps you to train your style. Try to draw daily too, make a challenge to draw at least a different object per day, a box, a chest, a sword, a tree, etc. Don't fear to challenge yourself too, try new things sometimes, like animations, tilesets, big drawings, etc. Look for reference at old games, how they did it, look at Twitter the #PixelArt or #ドット絵 and follow the ones that inspire you. With time you'll start to get better. I'm at this journey to improving too, always there's something new to learn.
