Nice prototype, I like the art and the gameplay, although the map feature allows to exploit enemy pathfinding as other people already mentioned :)
I also really like the music theme, it has strong kinda Undertale vibes that puts the game in kinda cool not-so-serious setting, and these robots became not so scary :)
There is a bug though, shortly after level 5 (at first i read it as LUL 5 lol) the collisions stop working and it's impossible to kill enemies. In the console there are messages that amount of collision objects is > 128, so I assume you don't go.delete() enemy objects on death and just hide them?
Thank you for playing and for the comments!
Interesting. I do go.delete() but I think what is happening is I do not limit the amount of enemies spawning so at some point they just grow out of control lol
Thanks for letting me know about that. I def want to fix that along with finishing the map and improving the enemy AI and adding a few skills you can gain in post jam.
Solid prototype, I also like the art style!
Thanks a lot!
I think I will add the art credits on the project page also, even though I purchased these in a pack and I don't think attribution is required: https://rinober.itch.io/rinober-resource-futuristic-cities
Nice prototype. Want to continue play with power-ups )
Shoot only in direction of move/look somehow remind me early Resident Evil. But they have less monsters at one screen.
Good point. I guess I should either make it mouse or analog stick aiming or keep it direction shooting and make the combat more strategic and less enemies.
The nostalgic style of Japanese video games, there’s something to it.
Found a place to escape from enemies, since after the player’s respawn there is nothing left but to run from the horde of robots :D
Haha, we had the same idea :D
I stood in that same spot and funneled them in to kill.
I like the retro music and the visuals.
I think the character could move a bit faster to make traversing the map more fun. Perhaps you could also make the enemies spawn off-camera and then move towards the player instead of appearing out of thin air in front of the player.
With the right power-ups, this could turn into an addictive game loop.
Thanks so much for the comments. You have given me some very good ideas on how to make the game loop way better, and with just a few power ups to start with too :)
Hey there! I wanted to ask real quick since you said I could make the character move a bit faster. Did you use the run button? Just making sure before I make the character walk and run faster by default.
Hey,
Actually, I completely missed that there's a run button. I think the run speed is great. But it makes me wonder, is a run button really needed? Or should the character move at the run speed by default? In what cases would the player need to move slower?
Thanks for trying it again for me!
Well, I was debating on having a stamina meter so you can only run for so long, and that would be an upgrade is more stamina.
I'm thinking about making the game more strategic with harder but less enemies.
Stamina management can be a fun mechanic. But to make it fair, I think enemies need to be limited in their movement is a similar way as well.
Solid take! some pathfinding would help, as those robots can't overcome obstacles and I found a perfect camp spot!
Thanks!
Post jam I def plan on finishing up this map and giving the AI some herding and pathfinding logic.
I like the music, so far what I do is spamming space to shoot
Good prototype, nice visual, sound and gameplay. I think you need to divide key moving and mouse fire to cursor position. Very fun.
