Nice presentation and an interesting idea! Turn based combo fighting game I guess? :)
I must say the instructions wasn't clear enough for me, as I thought that I need to press the keys simultaneously and the first like 5 rounds I was pretty frustrated that sometimes my attack/defense worked and sometimes not with no hint why that happened. Then after trying different orders of quick presses I realized what I supposed to do, but still sometimes I felt that I pressed right buttons quick enough, at least at the same speed as previous successful try, but this time I failed with no hint why. I think some visual timers and/or text hints like "Too slow", "Wrong combo" would help players like me to not feel frustrated :) Anyway in the end I was able to get the right speed I guess, and was able to beat the boss!
Wow, congratulations! I got a few feedbacks that it's not obvious what to do and almost lost faith someone will get so far. I will definitely make this mechanic more feedbacky and intutive, thanks for the feedback and investing enough time and energy to get the boss!
Interesting concept, but I was really annoyed by the controls/feedback, it might be that I don't get enough feedback if I'm doing right or not - other than looking at HP bars.
Yeah, a lot of things I didn’t managed to do in time. Thank you for playing and feedback!
Love the visual style.
For me first fight was long and I started to think that I'm doing something wrong. In fact, I was :)) Not fully figure out how to do "optimal" attack.
Yes, I do lack some feedback in the game... Thanks for trying my game!
Nice concept. At least I won for the first fight.
You kicked the small guy? Haha. joking! Yes, I need to do some adjusments to the feedback in the game, seems like it's harder to grasp when it's not you who developed it
Nice assets used here! An interesting twist, but I suggest adding some sort of guitar hero style road of keys to press. Or would that not be the case at all?
Since right now I feel more comfortable walking, jumping and reading inscriptions than fighting :)
It’s good to hear when people try out ideas that need to be tested for viability. Jams are great for that 👍
That's actually a very good idea... I will try it next time! So it makes more sense and have some visually more readable flow. Thank you!
I like the visuals and the general mood this game sets.
I suggest making the battle system a bit more interactive as not to turn this into a series of quick time events.
Thank you! Then game I am thinking about could have this mechanic as a battle that based on quick times events and character development. But interactivity could help, yes, for now it’s so raw 😅
Cool concept, but I feel like the UI and controls need to feel a bit more responsive.
I won the first fight but couldn't really figure out exactly what I was doing or what was what. A diagram and legend for the UI might work to start with, even though it should probably be more intuitive than that.
Thanks! I tried to explain that in simple text, but I guess it’s not enough. You are basically supposed to press an arrow key and Z when you attack and arrow key and X when you defending. It stands for different types of attack. But thank you for trying the game!
No problem!
I think I will try it again. I figured out the arrow key and Z attack and X defend but it seemed to only work less than half of the time.
Enemies remember your last attack and block it, the harder the enemy the more last actions they remember. So you need to always attack differently
Ohhhh ok, that makes a lot of sense now. If you can tell players that before first battle or make it more obvious to figure out I think that would be great!
