How does your game fit the Magical Girl Genre?
The main character Miria can use a special power called "Spirit Mode" which allows her to absorb enemy bullets and return them back to the enemy. She also has several other powers not shown in gameplay, including but not limited to teleportation, phasing through walls, changing form.

Most of the assets were made during the jam, but the bullets, player hitbox sprite and the life icons in the UI were reused.

My Touhou skills must have rusted since my last play of Touhou years ago but yeah don't think I'm clearing this one lol

One thing for sure the musics are awesome... no surprises I guess considering who made them

Decided to give this one a try even though I knew I wouldn't get far. I'm terrible at platformers and can't handle bullet hells at all, and this is both... the first enemy took me four continues. I scummed my way forward a bit but gave up after my eyes started hurting.

I think this might be the most refined Tengoku yet. It's a gaiden game, but it feels more polished mechanically and better presented than Tengoku 3 from the parts I played. It's definitely an established series at this point, with the same style and a lot of consistent details. Just a little improved every time.

The only thing I felt was a flaw was that the tutorial level really rushes along; as soon as you try what it's telling you to do, even if it was by accident, it moves onward.

Thanks for playing. The tutorial definitely needs some massive improvement, I basically just made something that was "good enough" for a jam standard.

well, I died a bajillion times... good thing there is no score at the end or probably would have gotten the worst. 

Graphics - pretty nice

Audio/ Music - chill

Gameplay -  felt that some of the patterns repeated, but I suck at this stuff so does it matter?

Story -  a bit disjointed, who this? who that? Who dead? References flew over my head.


Overall: good entry into the series I guess

Thanks for playing. The story is kinda linked to a previous game I made, so it makes sense if you didn't understand it all. One thing that might be added to the game is some more cutscenes to better link each stage together.

I like the music and dialogue. Game was a bit too hard for me though, and I ended up having to use all the continues to clear it. Skill issue I guess  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Downloaded version has missing dialogue files and invisible enemies btw

Thanks for reporting this bug! I forgot one export setting on the desktop version...

Will be updating the file with an otherwise identical build, hopefully that should fix the dialogue!

Had a lot of fun with this one (Probably because I love Bullet Hell), The sprite work of the characters were cute and the music worked really well at complementing the gameplay style. An option to walk slower would have helped a lot though, I ended up dying a lot with the Final Boss but overall it was a great game.

I feel the graphic of the series keep improving. But hell, I surely am bad at bullethell, especially with gravity mechanic. I was bascially abusing the respawn button. In some boss phase, I feel I am trapped by the light beams in area that is impossible to hit the boss. Music is cool though.

Nice opening screen!
One of us is an avid Touhou enthusiast so she'll be writing the feedback with that in mind.

I feel the character movement is too fast and don't give the player the precision they need to properly avoid the bullets. The walking side to side was too fast but the jump was especially imprecise and hard to control.

The enemy bullet graphics felt well matched to their hitboxes, the bullets also had nice patterns and good speeds!

A somewhat longer grace period after getting hit would be good, as well as stronger feedback when taking damage. I would also suggest making a short invincibility period after getting hit so that the player can reposition themselves.

On another point consider having the character automatically always shooting, there's no particular reason not to be shooting all the time so right now the player is simply forced to hold down a button to play the game.

Cool main character design and nice audio! The dimension modes felt nice and juicy!

Always nice to play another Tengoku game!

I think this is a great looking game. The sprites are cute, the FX all look good, and the portraits during the cut-scenes are expressive and fun.

One thing that really stood out was the music! I think the OST on this is one of the best in the Tengoku series.

Gameplay-wise, it reminded me of Tengoku 1.5. I've said it before, but I'm pretty bad a bullet hell games. I made LIBERAL use of the continue option. That said, I did feel like the controls were a little too fast and sensitive to carefully squeeze into safe areas amid bullet storms. Is there a button to slow down? Or is the browser version set to run-only? (I see the run button doesn't work in browser according to the game page) 

I also encountered a small bug... I tried a second play after beating the game, and noticed my continue count didn't reset.

Overall, I had fun playing this even if it was too hard for me to do a "clean" playthrough. I always appreciate that continue button! Great work, and another quality entry in the series.

Thanks for playing! Actually, the speed in the browser version is the player's slower speed and the run makes it faster. Apparently the bug that prevents shift from working properly in browser will be fixed in a future godot version, but maybe we should consider lowering player speed a bit as well.
