Nice game.  Visuals were neat though some of the tile schemes were pretty harsh (the 3rd area was very rough to play through).

Gameplay wise I think it was a neat concept but enemies starting behind rocks and things was very annoying.  The bosses where neat and definitely was caught off on the last one when the bullets turned.  I will say instead of extra hearts I would of liked something that let me fire faster.

I ran into a bug where I was on a half tile at the start of every fight at one point it didn't stop me from playing but did slightly add to the whole can't hit enemies right off the bat thing.

Thank you, Yeah some rock formations don't work well with some of the enemies AI. When testing I noticed this too so I added the run feature as a half solution. The half tile start is something I never encountered while testing, I don't think I reset the battle position so you start off in the spot where the last battle ended but I was always on the grid.  I had ideas for powerups similar to the one you mentioned but with limited time I decided not to.  I'm glad you liked it.

Fun game! Really liked the combination of overworld movement and battles.

Really love this! My only gripe is not being able to move diagonally, but that's just a personal preference :) overall the game is really solid, the concept is unique and the bosses were really exciting, I hope you keep working on it! I'd love some crazy hard levels or items, this definitely has the potential for a full release!

The game works really well with the small resolution! The combat feels really solid. The only issue I have with it is that sometimes enemies stay behind cover for a long amount of time. I like the old-school idea of just putting you in the game and letting you discover what the game has to offer. If you expand upon it, I think it would be a great commercial release!

Developer

Thank you, The enemies staying behind cover was a problem for me too when I was testing so I added the run feature as a half solution. Some of the enemy patterns cause them to not move for a while on certain map layouts. I glad you liked it.

Good job! I really like this type of games. I think it rapidly becomes repetitive since the combat mechanics are always pretty much the same. Apart from this, great game!

Thank you.

I really liked it! The concept was really nice and the 1 bit pixel art was really good!

Pretty simple but well implemented. I especially like the battle mechanics.

Your game is really fun. It reminded me of Legend of Zelda games on the gameboy. Short, sweet, and simple, good job!

very cute, but the screen was too small and i had trouble focusing. otherwise, loved the art and concept!

Thank you. Sorry about the screen size. It's supposed to stretch but it only works in some browsers.
