As mentioned, the worldbuilding here is fantastic, and I'm always happy to see another Twine user in these things, haha. You really have a way of painting a picture; it really makes me wish there was more time to really jam out even more background info on the setting, or at least get more time with the characters... eh. Game Jams, Cest la Vie.

The RNG mechanics do add a bit of spice to it, even if I routinely got pretty bad rolls. Having that layer of uncontrollability to it can be a risky proposition, but the way you leverage makes it work great.  The button mechanic took a bit of getting used to, but totally works, so absolutely no complaints mechanically. Great job there.

Aesthetically, I wish there was a bit more time for sound design, music, art, even some varied font choices or more use of color, but with the writing being the central thing here, I really really can't blame you there; the most important aspect is what was focused on, and it shines for that.

Would absolutely love to read more of your work in the future, and it's great to see such great writing from a solo dev. Can't say it enough, great job!

I was blown away by what you and your team did with Twine, so the analysis from a skilled crafter in my engine of choice is extra meaningful to me, thank you so much!

I loved it! Twine Powered by the Apocalypse? Yes please! Very well written, captivating. Your worldbuilding felt very immersive (with minimal content looking or feeling like exposition), and I love what you painted with it! This ticks so many of my aesthetic boxes it's not even funny. The amount of content seems extremely high as well for this project. The end felt a bit rushed, so I guess the scope ran away from you a bit, but it doesn't matter, I really loved this. Thank you <3

Developer(+1)

I'm so glad you had fun with the Twine+PBTA combo! A tabletop game isn't supposed to pursue every branching path someone suggests in a conversation, so the scope did get away from me pretty fast ^_^;; Worth the effort, though, for such energizing feedback, thank you!

I think it's pretty well written and having some RNG involved I think makes it more interesting since it quickly becomes a case of picking your own poison. What'd I definitely like to see is some ability for the player have the option to take action to deal with future problems you're already aware of which in turn may draw more attention.

Developer

Oh heck yes, like getting a choice to confront the eavesdropper if you've noticed them. Thank you for playing!

I need to play this again so I can read it properly and enjoy it. But from what I have seen so far it's very well done, I like the writing for the Dwarf race, mention of aquifers makes me think of Dwarf Fortress.

Developer

That aquifer bit is specifically for the Dwarf Fortress players out there :D

I am not a fan of text based games, but this one was something else, atleast for me... it had interactions so that the text part of the game is not boring. Good job on the writing, it's pretty good.

Developer

Thank you so much, I'm glad the interactions broke up the text a bit!

Interesting game. I wasn't quite sure what the boxes were for, but I would've loved to have seen more of the dice rolling mechanic and variations on it as I think that's an interesting mashup of  choose your own adventure + tabletop rpg. Writing was solid as well.

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I'm glad the mashup worked for you! I'm still so excited about adding randomness to choose your owns. And inexplicable boxes, those too.

The fantasy mecha style setting is impressive! Along with the cheeky prose, it reminds me a lot of Shadowrun. Without any visuals, it's a bit hard to tell exactly what's going on and the implied lore felt a bit confusing, but the execution of the dice rolls and character building added some nice depth to the narrative flow. I managed to get the ending where you ran out of dev time and therefore I automatically killed the beast!

Developer

You killed the beast, congratulations! I was worried the lore delivery was sorta uneven and confused, so your feedback there makes sense to me. Good to know what areas need some grease! I looked up Shadowrun because you're the second person to mention it to me, and a ttrpg that “combines genres of cyberpunk, urban fantasy and crime, with occasional elements of conspiracy, horror and detective fiction” sounds right up my alley!

Submitted

I really liked it! The 3 buttons were a little confusing I couldn't figure out what exactly was going on there, but I liked the mix of sci-fi and fantasy! Would be interested in hearing more from this world

Developer

Thank you thank you! I've put a lot of love into the setting, so it's a high compliment if that's what's caught your interest.

Seems like a really fun game, but i am not sure if i am the right person to rate it. I am not really on of a dnd player, nor a storyboard player. its a cool game tho!

Developer

Thank you for giving it a shot!

Couple fixes after submissions closed: the switcher boxes no longer send you to "Part Selection" over and over, I fixed the show/hide variables on two pages to display missing text,  added a link to options, and added a header that turns fonts and "creative mode" on and off, 7/20/23 at 2:00
