The game has a lot of personality, it's definitely been put together by someone with a sense of humor. The animations all popped, especially the facial expressions on Jarhead. I also enjoyed Ick's wacky looking wall grab stance.

Some feedback:

1. Jarhead was... difficult. I eventually realized that the jars were flying up in a pre-defined pattern, but they were still so fast and there was no real telegraphing when or exactly where they would spawn, so it made dodging pretty hard.

2. I had to hard reset the game twice because of the box pushing mechanic, first because I pushed a box that I needed into a wall and couldn't get it to go back the other direction, and another time cause I pushed a cart up the stairs and then was unable to jump up past it cause stair jumping was sort of finicky.

3. More of a personal nitpick, but CTRL is a pretty awkward button for attacking (for me at least).

Overall, the game was short and sweet and I felt good when Jarhead finally went down (even though I died at the same time :p). Good job!

This is a great submission! Really great animations and art style, I love how animatic the character is, this game is so full of personality and polish!

Fun game with a really great art style and fun music.  I enjoyed the animation  and theme.

I was confused on how to use the items I collected and I struggled a bit with the controls.  The platforming though felt like it was going in a good direction.

Cool to see there were multiple boss like characters with unique music.

Nice work!

Bro I *LOVE* games with character and personality, I'm already a fan of Dr. Ick, the way he moves, talks and looks is so fun!

I enjoyed the fact that even a monster can be useful for pressing buttons, makes the game very dynamic.

The movement is a bit unpolished, specially at the stairs, but it's playable. Being killed by a single hit is a little frustrating and also, I fell off the map, by going left on the part where there's a brown potion.

But overall this is a very fun game and can become an incredibly remarcable and amazing one with a little bit of polishing! I swear to god I'm eager to see more of Dr. Ick's adventures.

What I liked

  • The art was cool and consistent
  • I dug the moveable objects. I found it cool that I could use them to affect enemies, and more importantly, use them on pressure plates to unlock doors.
  • I liked that you had a couple boss fights.

Suggestions

  • 1 hit deaths. I feel like the minimum amount of hits should be three. One to assess the level and difficulty, and two more to try to make it through.
  • More feedback to the player. I had no clue if I was actually dealing damage to enemies until they actually died.
  • The final boss room. I don't have a problem with the boss itself, but those random projectiles that fly upwards are so fast and the previously mentioned points compound the problem. There's no feedback to the player. I feel like they should be slower and give off a warning noise (i have falling spikes and no warning noise or animation so I'm just as guilty of this)

Congrats on submitting your game!

I love the art and the aesthetic of the game. Both the main character and the final boss are very expressive and their personality comes out beautifully with each frame. The physics based puzzles are nice, but sometimes there are too many objects and pushing the right one gets clunky.

Getting killed in one hit can be pretty brutal, especially on the boss fights, which can feel pretty random due to the attacks not being telegraphed enough. For example, in the last boss, the projectile that come from below are almost impossible to avoid on reaction.

Congrats on the submission!
