Really nice jam game!

The art is cute, the story is short enough and well written.

Combats are not particularly interesting. They serve the narrative very well, but I would have loved if escaping from them was just a bit easier than waiting for your third character.

Thanks for the game and great job ✨

Nice game with a nice story, the controls are a bit weird (and took me a while before realizing how to use the item at the end), I like the art and music but I don't like the floor tiles they kinda make me feel dizzy, overall good job!

Cool game, haven't played many games like this before, but the aesthetics and gameplay felt very coherent. I found it a bit difficult to comprehend some of the UI though, but that was also part of the visuals I think. I enjoyed it!

Interesting story! I had a bit of trouble figuring out the abilities, but other than that I think you did a good job!

Cool game! Its really fun and very well-made.
And the story really is engaging.
Personally though, I don't like the floor tiles.
The colour combination kinda hurts to look at.

In my opinion the dialogues are a little bit too long. But overall I enjoyed playing this game!

Personally, this type of art is not for me, the music its heavy and annoying but the story is cool, good job

The art is great! Everything here is done really well. The color pallet works well and the dialogue is a great addition. Good job!

I'm really impressed you managed to do all of that within the jam's timeline. The story was excellent!

Very well crafted JRPG experience and impressive for the amount of time allotted.

That was more fun than I expected! I have experience hitting PICO-8 token limits so I know the struggle and I'm surprised that you were able to fit so much content into a single cart!

The pixel art is pretty good for PICO-8, and I especially like the Dior's portrait. The use of the white highlight around the characters was also nice.

The first time that Fang said that there must be another way, and that it didn't feel right, I backtracked all the way back to the beginning, searching the walls for some secret I missed. That was a mistake lol. Maybe make that not possible? I dunno. It was nice though, because I was assured that I'd seen and done everything worth doing.

The dialogue is also really great! I appreciate the JRPG melodrama, and I think that you really nailed it. I haven't played a JRPG in over a decade but..

you really gave me the nostalgia. Aaaa

Thank you for playing!

Ahh, I can see how that line could be misinterpreted. Anyone reading this before playing can keep in mind that there is no backtracking required to finish the game. I wrote it to be intentionally vague during the first loop, and more specific during the second. Sorry about the unintentional goose chase.

I'm happy to hear that you liked the dialogue as well. As I wrote in the description I tried to channel that vibe, so it's nice to know it landed.

LOVE the presentation!!! The little bit of hand-holding at the end there was a nice addition. I'm glad the party is nigh un-killable, so there's not the pressure of having to learn an entire fighting system that was "established" in "everything leading up to this final fight." The random encounters got quite annoying after the first few, as fighting them does not actually make the player progress in any meaningful way.

Developer

Yeah, I intentionally made the battles pretty easy. It's mostly there as flavor to sell the experience, (and is very simple on the back-end).

I know what you mean about the random encounters getting annoying after a while. I made Shade's "Escape" skill to help alleviate the tedium of constant encounters. It never misses.

If you ever do the full version of it, I'm playing it! Loved the vibe!

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
