(I am now in a rush to test as many games as possible to help, so please do not mind the cursory reviewing style.)

  1. I like how you took the time to explain the background for the creation of your game on the game page. :) (I tend to do the same.) By the way, is ‘PLY-3’ a random name or does it have some secret meaning?
  2. Ah, an instructions screen! I did the same for several games too. XD I think it is better to make things clear when having little time in a game jam, although the harder art of (implicit?) in-game tutorial and cues can also solve this. (Now, I tend to merely put the controls on the game page once and for all! X) For time reasons.)
  3. I love the whose dramatisation, including the typewriter effect, the 199X (reminds me of Mega Man 2), and so on. :) You really captured the spirit of the like of Evangelion.
  4. Maybe allowing the player to skip would be a good idea. I see doegee suggested speeding up, which is along the same lines.
  5. We thought partly of the same constraint-related gameplay concept. X) Although not entirely.
  6. You could add some very small ‘animation’ effect to the player character by adding feet. ;) (I know I did add simple rotating caterpillar tracks to my robot(s) from Entropy Block and I was happy with it.)
  7. Managed to beat the game without losing a life, by being systematic; the difficulty depends on people, I think it is reasonable, and could get harder with less bombs. The reloading mechanic is a great idea.
  8. Trying to see what happens when an enemy reaches the centre. Ah, nice shaky effect. :) And sober bad ending!

I like the game, it clearly feels it could be easily extended — as your answer to pello shows. I had a good time, both playing and immersing myself in the ambience and story! :)

(By the way, just putting here that my game is pending until I get the submission form.)

PS: just thought about it as an afterthought: some sounds would definitely help better understanding the action; especially, reloading, and hitting an enemy.

Very fun game. It could use some more polish (a sound effect for when you're reloading would have been nice). The difficulty is pretty great. I was initially expecting it to be pretty easy because of the start, but it got harder at a very good rate. Good game!

Pretty fun game with difficulty tuned to perfection. Was really enjoyable to play!

Submitted

A simple concept well presented, and the difficulty is just right

I really like the story displayed with the typewriter sound in the Intro because it creates a great atmosphere.

I am glad that the controls are easy to use and can be played right away. It would be better if there were explosion effects when enemies are destroyed.

Hey we have reviewed your game, check out the stream so you can make fun of us. https://www.twitch.tv/devdiaries We had problems with the audio, but in a nutshell we thought that it would be nice to add more juice and maybe shorter waves (in time). Also some kind power-ups would be great

Oh It is super cool being reviewed on a stream, thanks for the feedback! 😁

I was planning to add some different types of bullets but I decided to cut scope, will work on that better on the next opportunity!

Really like the plotline on this one - the little intro sequence really helps sell the concept. however, i feel like the game may be a little too easy? i played on trackpad (the infinitely worse way to play this) and still didn't have any problems. other than that, the enemy variety was severely lacking, and although the background looks great, the enemies do kinda look a little ugly. Maybe just having them randomly pick between 2 or 3 sprites could've really helped in the variety of the whole game.

Thanks for the feedback!

I was planning to add more enemies (and a boss fight) but decided to cut the scope for the sake of finishing the game for the jam :(. I will work on improving the enemies and their art for the next game, thanks for playing!

It was pretty good, fun concept.

I love the intro, though it could've used a speed up button.

I couldn't figure out how to fire the bombs.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I will definitely incorporate a speed up feature next time.

You can fire bombs by pressing B and reload bullets by pressing R.
