This was fun to play! I loved the progression with different upgrades, and watching enemies slowly wither away was very satisfying. The music is an absolute jam, very funky. However, I didn't really like the boss, I think it was too hard to dodge him and sometimes he managed to hit me multiple times in one attack. Overall, I think it's a great game that can become something very very fun and addicting with some polish.
Excuse me, where is my warning of mature content?! That painting was just sinful ;) I love the idea of upgrading one’s self between levels, so great job there. The gameplay did fall short a bit, as I mainly just herded everyone in the center and ran in circles sometimes and only being able to shoot sideways or up and down was stressful haha. However, I definitely see a lot of potential in the game and look forward to seeing it develop if you choose to! Great job :)))
Fun game and cool art style. Quite challenging I would say. I cheesed the first boss:
but I was already low on health so immediately died to those guys throwing spears at the next area. I wish there was a way to recover health after clearing each room other than choosing from the 3 upgrades or if health occasionally drops from killing enemies.
Good game overall. Well done.
Thanks for playing and enjoying our game!
Your health cannot go up once injured, but you recover one shield after every level ;)
For this cheese, we are aware, the solution would be to add a pathfinding solution, currently the ennemies just walk straight to you.
The poison mechanic is pretty well implemented, since you have to wait until you can do another shot.
Also props to taking the extra time to add little details in the background. I really appreciate it!
what i liked: I liked that you even added levels and you increased the power of the player as they played. That felt very much like an rpg. I also liked that you killed the enemies slowly rather than all at once. This was an ambitious game for the time allotment I'd say!
what I would suggest: I'd suggest making the shooting a little faster. I'd find myself clicking over and over waiting before I could shoot again. If I could kill them quicker it would be more fun.
overall: I'd like to play this game more with slightly more polish. The gameplay loop has potential for being really fun!
Thank you :) We reduced the firing speed to “force” using the poison damages more.
Also you can just hold the mouse bouton autoshoot as fast as possible
We planned to put more levels, a ranged / AOE boss, but yeah we got caught by time and had to cut light, maybe an update someday (unsure)
Nice! It's clear you all put a lot of work into it!
A lot of fun, love the upgrade system and having to avoid enemies while you wait for them to die , cool concept!
I was really really impressed by Mereg! It took me a little bit to realise how you are supposed to attack and how to collect the power ups after each level. But once I got that figured out it was an absolute jam! Great game, really good job!
Thanks for your comment! I'm glad you liked playing Mereg :D
Nice game loop. I like the art, however some of the walking animations could have used a few extra frames :). The game loop works quite well with the concept that you have. Nice and simple, but quite addicting. Also, i love the art and sound design!
Thanks for your comment! I'll improve myself on the future sprites I'll make :D
