Use of the limitation
The toaster is ridiculously overpowered - I mean it shot that toast into space! Also the toast itself is pretty OP, shrugged off cannon fire like it was nothing.

0, but I did eat a lot of other stuff

I don't know why, but the airplane level was really fun to play hehe. I tried to move to the rhythm of the music, and that added an extra layer of enjoyment to the game.

I like the use of the changing backgrounds to indicate changing height, and the use of the limitation for "ridiculously overpowered".

The graphics do remind me of web games from the 2000s.

A game about hyper-velocity toast that would fit right in with old flash games.

The concept, set-pieces, presentations, are so out of left of left field it's genius. 10/10

cool interpation of  'stories' like another commenter pointed out.

loved loved loved the transitions from birds to planes to the other kinds of planes lol. the backgrounds blended so wonderfully. nice stuff

at first i thought i had to dodge the birds xD very good game

Developer(+1)

When I was first sketching it out it was a dodging game, but it didn't fit the theme as well so I flipped it!

LOVE the art, especially the explosion animations on the planes. Also the randomness of the movement of the jets and the birds coming in, I like that its impossible to get them all! Great work

So I did stop an alien invasion? ? Cute art style and ineteresting gameplay. Like it.

Turns out you did! I was surprised too!

Nice Story

This was goofy, I love it. I like your interpretation of "stories" too, I thought about doing something with apartment stories at first too, wicked rad

Thanks so much! I was thinking of a lift/elevator at first but I didn't want to draw the inside of the building!

I loved the transitions as you got higher and higher, they really made it feel immersive.

Thank you! I actually had an issue with the parallax background initially as I pull the camera out. The way Godot's parallax scroller works is only 2 iterations on a loop and you could see both due to the camera being pulled back 😱 I ended up putting in the big cloud to cover up the a switch between two different sets of parallax layers and thought it was a really neat effect in the end!

Nice - I didn't even known Godot had a ParallaxBackground node, I will have to check it out. I just switched to Godot from Unity for this jam and it has been a fun learning experience. I'm really liking Godot a lot so far.

Simple but fun to play, the art style looks cute too! The toast hitting the bird is the best thing lol 🍞

Developer(+1)

Ha thanks, I hadn't had a chance to mess with Godots particle system but I was pretty happy with the result!

111 hits and 11680 stories high. The aliens won't be visiting again thanks to that one op toast. 10/10 epic game and extra points for the way you interpreted the theme =D and the old flash games style art is quite nice. Good stuff. Very nice job!

Thank you!
