super cool concept, still a little confused about which objects give which color (watermelon only gave red and yellow) but i feel like there's a lot of directions you could take this
Thanks for giving the game a shot despite the confusion!
The slime will push any fruit until it is in contact with a wall. Then, the interaction changes depending on the colors. If a slime is the same color as a fruit, it can move through it. The other mechanic is that the slime can exchange a color with the object it interacts with, but the slime also must always have at least one color while objects are able to lose all their colors, and you can only “hold” one of each color. So a blue slime interacting with a green (yellow + blue) watermelon would only able to RECEIVE yellow from watermelon and will turn green and explode. If you’re an orange (red + yellow) slime interacting with a green watermelon, you can either RECEIVE blue or GIVE red to the watermelon.
I think our intro level not being correctly updated to be… an actual tutorial level probably made it a lot more confusing too – we didn’t mean to introduce pushing in the first level, and the sprites should have been updated to fruits with strong color associations.
Love the little guy :D The core mechanic is fun and clever! Level design is also great but once you get the hang of the mechanic the levels fall a bit easy.
Thanks for playing, and I’m glad you like our little slime. jabenero was the incredible mind behind the mechanic!! I was the level designer, except I didn’t have as good of a grasp on the mechanics as jabenero did, so I had a bit of trouble trying to design levels with appropriately increasing difficulty.
The concept is really cool and works really well with the limitation! However, I'm having a really hard time figuring out which color combination gives which result. A little color wheel at the top of the screen wouldn't go amiss :)
PS: The shift button for speed up is really USEFUL.
If you could try and rate my game, I'd be grateful!I’m glad you enjoyed the game, and thank you for the feedback! The existing interface definitely isn’t the most intuitive. Will check out your game soon :)
This is such a creative use of the limitation! I love the concept and the cute art :)
Thank you for taking the time to try it out :D
Original gameplay with puzzles that will require you to rack your brains !
I’m glad you think that :D Thanks for taking the time to play!
Interesting mechanic. Hard to understand, however. But well, that also adds the challenge. Nice work!
Thanks! I think our first level not being correctly designed as an intro level might have made things a lot harder – missed correctly updating it in the hustle and bustle of finishing other parts of the game.
Interesting concept. it’s very difficult to understand at first but it’s fun once you do crack it.
Thanks! Been getting a lot of feedback about it being difficult to understand, and I wonder how much that has to do with the intro level not being the correct version and not correctly introducing the mechanics 😅 Will have a post-jam update that at least fixes that.
Very fun to play and quite the challenge actually well done !
I’m glad you enjoyed it! jabenero, the mechanics designer, originally made the tagline “A simple, colorful puzzle game”, while I personally mess up trying to clear the levels even though I designed them 😅
Keep up the good work :D
This game was very hard, but as soon as I understood the color combinations I passed the levels. Incredible concept! Congratulations!
The concept and mechanics design is thanks to jabenero! In the hustle and bustle of everything, the first level wasn’t updated to be a proper tutorial level (should not have allowed pushing in that level and only introduce color change) and is missing the fruit sprites, so I wonder if that made the game a lot more confusing.
