The atmosphere and art are very cool. Shooting the gun  feels great, and the fox is very scary. The only problem was that I couldn’t do anything with the totems. I pressed every key and shot them many times, but nothing happened. Everything else is very well made though.

Developer

Thanks for informing me. I patched the bug just now. Shouldn´t happen again ;)

The graphics are awesome! I even got scared by the jumpscare! There is also a limited ratio! Very cool game!

The jumpscare omg! Fun game

Spooky game! I liked the creepy design of the fox quite a bit and the straightforward implementation of the coin flip adds some good atmospheric tension. Nice work!

Very spooky, I honestly jumped the first time the fox appeared out of nowhere 3:

Hard bass jumpscare = best jumpscare. Great atmosphere and gameplay! :)

The jumpscare when he kills you really got me! The pixel art is excellent, I love the coin especially. Shotgun sounds great as well, great work!

Developer

Thank you very much :)

Great little horror game, I found the jump scares and unpredictability to be really fun and thrilling. Congrats on making the atmosphere so perfect (especially full screen). My little shotgun could only keep the fox away for so long! Guess I was lucky so the fox spared me!

Only question I have is how do I destroy the totems? I tried shooting them and they didnt break.

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for trying my game. You actually destroy the totems with the shotgun but you have to stand pretty close to them, Thought that would be more realistic ;)

Oh alright, need to give it another try then! :)

The atmosphere is great. I couldn’t find the totems or coin flipping mechanic, since the game ends after walking up for a few seconds. I’m sure it is a bug, and I will replay it if it gets fixed! Thanks.

Same thing happened to me.

Developer

Thank you for reporting a bug to me. I will update the game asap xD

Very nice visuals! The sound effects and ambient noise do create a nice horror atmosphere. The game took me to the winning screen all of sudden, I am not sure why -w-'

Developer(+1)

You can play the full game now. There was a bug unfortunately xD

Oh, nice! Could indeed play it now, and it's very good :D I really like the idea of not losing immediately!

I recently had the pleasure of playing "Crimson Tail," a captivating game developed by Nikesh for Mini Jam 176: Foxes.

The game masterfully integrates the jam's limitation by incorporating a coin flip mechanic that determines the player's fate, adding an exciting layer of unpredictability.

The use of Unity and Aseprite is evident in the game's smooth performance and charming pixel art, which together create an engaging and visually appealing experience.

Overall, "Crimson Tail" is a delightful game that showcases Nikesh's talent and creativity. I highly recommend giving it a try!
