Fun central gameplay, and I really like the way it looks! It might be nice to get a little cosmetic feedback on what hitting the spacebar was doing, since the firewall has so much inertia. And I'll second what others have said about the game over delay -- I wanna play again quickly!
It's a nice concept. Perhaps the gameplay would improve when you could use the mouse to aim the firewall quicker, you would have to increase the enemy rate accordingly. Good work!
It doesn't seem like you can do anything in this game. Firewall wasn't doing anything when touching the orbs. Restarting took way too long. Is there some other buttons I don't know about besides spacebar?
Only the space bar I'm afraid. Hold it to reverse the rotation of the firewall, release and it'll rotate the other way. There is a lot of inertia as others have noted. The firewall only burns red orbs.
The excessive particles can make some of my machines chug which makes it much harder to see interation. ZapJackson has a good suggestion that I need more visual feedback when you press space to make up for the intertia.
I'm collecting feedback for a post jam update - thanks everyone for their comments!
It's a cool concept and the controlls feel nice aswell. I also tought, that the game is nicely balanced, it is challenging but not unfair. I would have liked it if the enemies spawned randomly tough, but i guess the balancing would have been infinitivley harder. I also had problems with figuring out where exactly my Firewall is when it was on top because it was behind the core and you could only see the fireparticles which don't indicate the exact location. But other then these minor complaints i really liked the game.
I like the concept, but such a challenging game is annoying to play when it takes so long to restart when you die. I like the cutscenes, but some way of skipping them or speeding them up would make it less of a chore to play. Even the gameplay could be sped up a bit, like making it so you can turn the firewall quicker but the enemies move faster too? Also the minimap was reversed left to right.
Great concept, execution could use some tuning, good job ^^
Yeah the minimap being mirrored is a bug I noticed late and I didn't manage to fix. The final camera angle doesn't really need it - I spent most of the weekend with almost a first person view on the fire which was really hard to play!
I should add text skipping so you can get back into the game faster.
Thanks for the feedback!
Cool concept and good execution :D
I love this game! Idea is cool!
Thanks :)
