I did all the work on the game, but Aripegio was great to have to bounce ideas off of, and for playtesting.

Absolutely beautiful game with unique a gameplay, lovely story and characters and an awesome music and art style. It started really strong with an original idea and setting. Then, when I got used to the deciphering , you kept introducing new gameplay mechanics (the pressure, and the hose). I wish you had kept introducing new mechanics though, because around message 40 it got pretty boring, I have to admit.
BUT! The story kept me playing anyway, and I've had way worse gameplay than this to be fair. But overall I think it was a pretty good idea and hey, it wouldn't be a gamejam if we could make perfect games in 72h. I'm happy I found this game
I didn't play this game to the end, but I got pretty far. The only thing I didn't like was how hard it was to extinguish fires. Still pretty fun, although the gameplay is a bit repetitive. :|
Me at the beginning: "Is this even gameplay?"
Me at the end: "Sweating on my keyboard from how emotionally invested I am in keeping this boiler alive and decoding messages at lightning speed"
Fantastic game, the tedious gameplay might be a barrier that stops people from experiencing the whole thing, but you have a way of getting me immersed into this tedious job, I loved it.
Although the game seems really polished, the sounds, the art, all great: the gameplay itself is way, way too tedious. Eventually clicking the buttons just come as really tedious, and there was no point putting the wood in the fire all the time, because if you die, you just return to your last save, which would not set you back too far.
I played the game for 20 minutes, because I really, really wanted to give it fair shot! It looked good! But after 20 minutes, until I gave up. I got other game jam games to play, and I try keep each game to five minutes each, which is fair enough I think.
I got to the dialogue #20 from the Captain. All in all, looks like a great concept, just not at all fun. Remember, all this is just my opinion. Thanks :)
Yeah, it was pretty clear about halfway through the jam that the core concept for the gameplay just was not fun or challenging, but it was too far in for me to rework it, and I was more focused on making a complete experience than a good one.
Still, thanks for the feedback! I was really in the mood to make a moody, story-based game for this jam, but for future jams I definitely want to focus on the actual game a lot more, and make that part fun.
This was a nice change of pace between the other jam games. Love the atmosphere you were able to create with just black and white. I have made it to the donuts and haven't had the chance to use the hose mechanic, so I might be back to finish the game... Good job!
i really love the idea and mechanic behind the morse code. Also juggling the furnace with coal is a nice inbetween
Adore the artstyle! :D deciphering the morse code was a really neat idea too!
