It's an odd compliment, but I loved how the title related to the game, with the enemies charging at you and you charging up your energy! The gameplay was a nice idea - having to balance your health and attacks was pretty fun - and the animations were great too, but recharging was a little slow, and I ended up just standing there half the time waiting for it to recharge. Also, I didn't notice any difference between charging up a punch and just spamming attack, so maybe charging up should do more damage over time? Regardless, I still really enjoyed it, so nice work!

Thanks for playing! There's a power modifier at certain breakpoints based on how much energy you use to charge, so spamming attack was supposed to be the least energy efficient. Playing through it again, it seems like the differences in damage were not big enough.

I could definitely improve it so that the changes in damage are more distinguishable. Maybe also provide different visual or audio effects to signal to the player that charging up a punch is the way to go.

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback!

I like who you implement the limitation and the music.

Two things to maybe improve the experience is to grant a reward mechanic if the player do the dash at the correct moment, and that the movement will be faster.

But overall a great game and style. Hope to see more.

Congrats for finishing the Jam!

Developer

Agreed, a dash reward would be nice and I could look into improving the movement. Thanks for playing and giving feedback!

I like the music and the idle animation. This is a clever concept.

The controls need to be faster and more responsive for a fighting game. Also, it would be nice to have some audio or visual feedback when the enemy is struck.

Thanks for the compliments! I agree the audio/visual feedback would be nice to add, and the game could be faster paced to be more exciting

Great Game i liked it being in boss stages and the mechanic was fun although the last one was hard to dodge.

Developer

Thank you! I think I'd need to tweak the dash and hit detection a bit to feel better

I really like the graphics. I think that the player should be rewarded for doing dash right! Maybe give them some extra energy? Nice job.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I was thinking the same thing. At the start of the jam, I was hoping to give bonus energy on successfully dodging attacks

Really cool mechanic, and the music change when fighting the boss was pretty nice.  The only problem was you had to get used to the dash to get it right because it was a little off and recharging took a while.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I wanted to make the boss fight dramatic. Also, I appreciate the feedback, and recharging could be faster to get the player back into action more

I like this concept of a fighting game where you have a limited amount of energy to make attacks. Very cool game idea!

Thank you! I hope you had fun trying to decide when to charge and when to regen

The game is good but slow paced. I felt like the dash didn't give you the invincibility frames it appeared to last for but that may be just me.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I had some really ambitious ideas for animation, and I wanted to create a shield animation to better communicate to the player when you're invincible. But the punch animation and putting it into the game actually took a lot longer than expected

This is a cool prototype. I like that each of the enemy's attacks has a counter from the player (the tyre can be countered with jump, dash attack can be countered with dash movement). I also really like the play on the word 'charge' with how you charge your attacks, and the enemy charges toward you. Cool concept with a lot of potential to flesh out 😊

Developer

Cheers! I'm glad people got what I was going for with the word "Charge". Thanks for playing!

I very much liked the presentation, the art style and colour pallet is work well together.

Developer

Thank you so much! I appreciate the kind words

Your art style is quite charming. And I actually really liked the color palette too.

But the game is soooo slow paced. Recharging is long. Tutorial is long. And you can't skip anything too.

My only complaint would be the pacing of the game.

Here is my rating. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for playing and giving feedback! I ran out of time at the end to properly playtest and fine tune the game, but I agree. A skip text button actually would've gone a long way.
