... wow, I fell off the edge A LOT. Definitely challenging but fun, I like the design, sound and concept, reminded me of old 80s arcade games, and I love that you based the cats on your real life cats!

Level design is good! It's very challenging.

Interesting take on pacman! I liked how each cat acted in a slightly different way. I can see a lot of potential here with more types of obstacles, like something you can trick the cats with.

Well done!

Damn, these cats are ruthless!
Conceptually simple game that is both challenging and well executed.
I quite like the level designs and the cat AI in particular.
Well done! :D

Nice retro feel! The sound was a good match to the visual and very motivating for play. Interesting that you had to stay on the platform, cool twist.

thanks a lot for hanging out and chatting today. This, as you saw lol, was a challenging game, one bit i noticed and we talked about was the enemies overlapping on each other. great work you should be proud of your cats they won!

This reminds me of Pac-Rat -- the fictional arcade cabinet game from iCarly. I love it!

Cute and concise, though the controls felt a little sluggish to me. Fun and challenging though!

Pico8 really was the ideal platform for this jam. The SFX and aesthetic are great, and the gameplay came out real clean and simple. All it's missing is some background music.

Well done, and good luck!

Cool game! It's like Pac-Man with a twist! I do kind of wish that your lives reset every level, but that's more of a nitpick than an actual complaint.

Cataclysm is honestly a great game at surface level with the first level feeling very similar to PacMan. While it's a great concept, I really feel the presentation as well as the use of the limitation was much better! The first level was very simple. The second level was slightly more difficult and I feel it was showcasing more of what PacMan should've done to keep things fresh. This game certainly has a lot of great design. The patterns in the levels are great also! The Developer really made a great effort with this project.

I'd really like to see the Developer continue this project as I feel it was a very enjoyable experience! Great work, Pineberry Fox! :D

Woho PICO-8 :highfive: Those are some smart cats. Had fun playing this, a bit hard maybe, could not outsmart your three purrmachines. :)

This game feels like a retro game in a really good way, the sounds and graphics really feel like an old arcade game. Awesome work. I did have a a issue personally, the controls. The controls are okay however I feel like the principles of coyote jumps can be applied to the movement, sometimes I was reacting to something too late and hit the turn button too late, being locked into the whole move caused me many many deaths. Maybe if there was a pity time for a few frames where if you hit turn while moving it would teleport you back? idk its not a simple issue to fix. That control issue made level 2 pretty hard as you need to get the cookie then hit back, and that timing while not hard or anything can be rough. That was my biggest issue so other than that, awesome entry, the art, sounds, game design were all very retro feeling and this was quite enjoyable for a long time, never got past Level 3 though.

Fantastic work!

hmm good point on the concept of grace-frames. the way i play is to ready a turn while moving out of the cell before the one i want to turn in. so like, in the simple case of moving right and then turning back left, i’ll have pressed left before even fully entering the cell on the right

thanks for the feedback! i’ll definitely have to play around with it a bit more later :3

Love the nostalgic feel, and adored the retro sounds. Pixel art was great and the difficulty was pretty manageable. Love the game, and hope your IRL cats are doing great!

oh! yus, they’re doing just fine, thanks! had one sitting on my lap earlier and i was like “hey look you’re in the game”

This game felt like it was straight from that 8x8 era. Great use of the limitation with the artstyle. Pretty difficult. I died multiple times on the first level but ended up managing to beat it.  Gameplay wasn't really my style however.
