Nicely made game! Very fun. Great work!

Very cool game idea!

At first I thought that the shadows would hide enemies. That would be a cool extra challenge!

And you absolutely need animations for your main character!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! With the shadows, I'm now realizing how big of a missed opportunity that was...

And as for the main character, I was planning on animating it eventually but didn't get enough time to do so; I was lucky to even get enough spare time to animate the enemies.

I'll definitely work on this game after the jam ends and will add both of these suggestions!

I loved the variability of the cards and their discard abilities, i think enemies might be getting crowded a little too soon but besides that really good game. Great job!

Fun game! I like the fact that discarding has its own effect. It's a nice incentive to not keep the same card the whole time :)

Visuals are very satisfactory (especially the shadows). I liked the card picking and throwing mechanics. Maybe we could have a health bar and get into enemies to pick a new card by only losing a small amount of health. But it is totally a gameplay choice.

Cool shadow effect :)

Developer

Glad you liked the shadows, they were surprisingly simple to make :)

Can you give me link or tutorial? because its very very good effect. I tried to find it but I couldn't

Developer

I used this tutorial, had to modify it slightly to work with top-down tilemaps but for the most part it's the same premise! If you're doing it top-down the directional light doesn't look very good, so I just relied solely on a point light in the player. Hope it helps!

pretty good all around. Pretty on theme, good presentation. The gameplay could use a bit more love,

Developer

Thank you!!! Is there anything in particular you think I could improve about the gameplay? I didn't have enough time to balance it properly before the deadline :)

Submitted

I feel like the game starts spawning wayy to many robots wayy too soon imo, and when a card drops, it's too dangerous to retrieve it. So I suppose the balance is indeed the main issue.

Developer

I appreciate the feedback! I'll probably keep working on this game after the jam and will fix some of these issues.

Nice game! We had similar ideas, I like the pickup/discard mechanic to give that extra oomph when you are running low on cards :D

Pretty exciting game! It get pretty dicey real fast, but I get a little rush when a card drops that helps clear out some bots. Great job!
