Damn this was great! I am not sure how the 3d background integrates with other 2d art but it's an amazing experience!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed our game. :)  We're currently wondering ourselves how we develop the art style. What exactly to create in 3D and what in 2D will be a hard question to answer.

Submitted(+1)

The music is kinda annoying but this concept is really great !

And the artstyle is absolutely awesome ! I love this pixel art with 3D environement and all of these lighting ambience !

Developer

Ah, I understand that the music is not fitting that well. Thank you for the feedback! But it was the first time one of us composed something, so I am still happy to have it. Maybe we will have another member compose someting or ask a professional friend.
Glad you like our artstyle :)

This is actually quite good for a first time !

Developer

Yeah, I thought so too, thank you! I will tell her you wrote that :D

This game is awesome! Played all the way through the game. My only issues were the unclear ending to the game, and getting stuck on edges, where you cant reload ammo. Other than that, great game, and well made.

Developer

Yeah, you expertly summarized our two main issues. These will be fixed in a small patch next week. Glad you enjoyed the game despite its current mildly flawed state! :)

This game has a cool idea, and is fun to play! I love it!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you like it :)

Just quickly made an account here to comment and leave a rating! you already know my opinion. Just here to give this more attention hehe ~James

Developer

Hey James, thank you a lot for helping us out! An itch.io account is great for everyone who is interested in games anyway :)

The game is cool and i love the minecrafty stlye

Developer

Thank you :)  Minecraft was one of our inspirations so I'm glad you see the similarities!

This game needs a deer.

Developer

Took me some time to understand the Reference. Then I read your name to confirm my suspicions. Noted the suggestion in the "possible features" list.

Submitted(+1)

Reaaally enjoy this game, nice arts and nice mechanics, good job!!

It'd mean a lot if you could check my game too and give me your opinion

Developer

Thanks man! Already checked out your game 3 days ago though :D  I liked it and gave feedback in the comments.

Very well-rounded game, it's fun to move around with the shotgun. As I played through, I started wishing the gun would immediately reload upon hitting the ground, allowing for a much faster and frantic gameplay (and taking a step back, a platformer where you have to wait 1 second before jumping again  doesn't sound that fun). The graphic style is simple and clean, works very well in that context. I think using Unity's sprite lighting system, you can make it look even better. The 4-notes loop for the music can become a bit annoying over time. Besides those small things, I had a blast, well done :) If you plan to extend it, I would focus on making destructible environment that forces you to think about every shot.

Developer

Thank you very much for giving us such an extensive feedback! We already want to experiment with lower reloading times. We didn't want the player to dash wildly through the level without thinking, but we may have overdone it with the reloading time, true. Thank you for suggesting the Sprite lighting system - we will continue to use the Unreal Engine though. The music is relatively low priority right now, but will definitely be changed and improved.
So far, I have never worked on destructible environments, but the idea is awesome! I think it could have a great synergy with the shotgun mechanic - I will at th every least try to look into it!
Glad you enjoyed our game :)

I can't say bad word about this game, art is pretty and gameplay is really fun :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you, I take this as a very high compliment! :)

Submitted(+1)

Awesome art and sound effects! All very fitting into the game! I like the concept of this game, its very interesting to see such a platformer. Great job! Though there were some unclear parts like how i did not know that the cactus could be shot at and the bushes were unshootable, causing me to have to restart, but the overall game is fantastic! Nice job!

Submitted(+1)

That abrupt ending was sudden hehe.  :)

Developer

Yes, that is indeed unfortunate. I really hope you recognized it as the end of the game and didn't try searching for a 'right way' which doesn't exist. ^^

Developer

Thank you! The confusion about what you can and cannot destroy wasn't mentioned by anyone before you. I already expected we have to communicate that better, but reading your comment made it even clearer, thank you!
I think simply placing these objects in different places might tell the player how to deal with them. I thought that maybe when the player first spawns, he/she will have a cactus to his/her left side. Even if the player ignores the cactus and tries to move to the right, the cactus will be accidentally destroyed. Do you think this is a good way to explain the mechanics, or do you have a different idea? :)

Submitted(+1)

Ooh yes this kinda indirect way is also a great way to introduce the mechanics too! It gives people something figure out by themselves too.

Developer

Cool! Glad you like the idea. Will try if it works as well as I hope. The only problem I can think of right now is that the player might shoot the ground and miss the cactus after all. But well, I already have one more idea about it. I'm sure we'll find something :)
Thank you for your great feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Wow, what a package this was. I did get stuck unfortunately, getting caught on a corner where it didn't count as ground, so I couldn't reload, but was also out of shots so just had to restart.

Despite that this was a real treat.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, a lot of people complain about getting stuck, understandably. This will be the first thing to be fixed. A patch with some fixes, tweaks and small extras should be online next week. Thanks for telling us though, and glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

I really enjoyed this game, loved the 2.5 D graphics, it look really cool and i may even try out them myself, but before the second checpoint the travel segment was super boring, and i didn't notice the cactai so i had do it like 3 times lol, and also there was one really cheap enemy placement in cave, enemy just jumped on me mid air, in split second, so you should try improving level design a bit, but other than that it was really cool

Developer(+1)

Thanks for giving feedback which is a bit critical! What you wrote seems really useful.
Wouldn't have expected the segment before the second checkpoint to be boring, but I will have a hard look at it. Do you have an idea how to make the enemies feel less cheap? Do you think zooming the camera out a bit would be a good idea?

Submitted(+1)

yeah zooming camer could work, the most problematic thing was just the placement, enemy was next to a gap, which you had to jump across, and if you wouldn't react instantly he would catch you mid air, and you couldn't see enemy before hand

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I can totally see your point. Without the time restrictions of a jam, we should be able to make it a lot better. Thank you for bringing it to my attention! :)

Submitted(+2)

One of the best game i've played for this jam ! The mechanics are working well ! I've found a "hack" on respawn where you can get 3 shots if you are quick enough.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for the kind comment! Did you get 3 shots when you boosted yourself up next to a wall? If so, the reason is the Grounded Check which will be the first thing to be fixed. If not, would you mind describing me the exact location, so I can look into it, please?

Submitted(+1)

It was almost at the end maybe last checkpoint before the dead end, you need to spam click on respawn to reproduce the bug.

Developer

So not next to a wall? Okay, thank you for the description, I will look into it!

Nice Little Game

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Glad you like it :)

Submitted(+1)

I can see that you’ve not only mixed genres, but graphics too! A really nice concept here. The only bug I’ve encountered is with the edges of the platforms, you can get stuck on them xD. But that is a minor issue, and overall you did great with this game.

Developer

You're right, I haven't even thought about the fact that our graphics fit the theme as well! Yeah, I will upload a build with some fixes by the start of next week - the edge problem will be the first thing I'll remove. Thanks for the feedback and glad you like our game :)

Submitted(+1)

Great Game man, i really enjoyed it!

if you can check out my game id love that

Developer

Thank you. I have a lot of Jam Games on my 'To-play list', but since your sprites already look very interesting, I'll try to play yours too!

Submitted(+1)

Very original, striking art style and simple, responsive gameplay. This is what a jam game should aspire to be!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Sometimes knockback of the shots feels a bit inconsistent to me, so I'm happy to read, taht you found it responsive. Will still put a lot of work into making it feel even smoother :)

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Amazing game, one of my favourite form all this submissions. Sspecially liked the location with the cave. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you John! The cave is one thing I almost insisted on. Luckily, our Level Artist agreed. Glad you like it :)

Submitted(+1)

This is a beatifull game 2D + 3D lol and the only shootgun movement is really fun :D Can you had bonus like more bullet ? :D

Developer

Hey, glad you like our art style and gameplay! We are already thinking about increasing the number of bullets the player can use. Do you think it would work well as a power up (like one more bullet for 15 seconds) or as a permanent upgrade after beating a few Levels?

Submitted(+1)

I don't know actually a perk system would be fun like that you have replayability, and choicies for the player to make. So yeh I prefer it to be permanant. And why not different shotgun with different powers ?

Developer

Oh, that is intriguing! Having to make a shoice between, for example, higher knockback or an extra bullet with less knockback could be very exciting. Changing the shotgun visually also sounds like a good idea to go with it. Thank you very much for the suggestion, will talk to the other team members about this! :)

Submitted(+1)

Happy if I helped :D

Go luck in your devlopping :D See you next jam :p

I wanna follow like that i'll keep posted of the futur updates :D

Developer

Hey, thank you very much for the follow, we appreciate it! First minor update which should fix the major issues should be ready some time next week. If everything goes well, we will launch a bigger update with multiple levels in December. Not sure if that one will already have power ups though ;)
