I think this would be a great game if there were a couple of fixes. Less randomized encounters. It feels like encounters are pure RNG, and I could run into enough enemies after fully healing that they kill me. I don't have a lot of options in between shops on what to do(I always chose talk as I'm overflowing with gold all the time so no reason to chose combat).
Also, it should be allowed to both heal and upgrade weapon at the shop at the same time, I have sooo much gold on every play dude. Maybe even adding some stuff like health potions, and leveling? After some point there is no sense of progression as I have to heal at every shop in order to not die before the next shop.

Anyway, it's an enjoyable game to play, I liked it more than most games in the jam because it was simple for me to get into and get started.

Thanks! I didn't have much time for balancing, but if I was to make a post-jam version, I will take your feedback into consideration :D

Pretty good! Never seen a pseudo-text based game like this one before on a jam, it feels very polished.

I really like the concept and aesthetics of this but I didn't feel like I had any interesting decisions to make. I could talk or fight but there was basically never a reason to choose to fight. Also I'm not sure why there was a stop button. I think with more diversity and some strategic depth this would be really cool.

Developer

yah, it’s the type of game where more content = better game, not ideal for a game jam, still glad you like the concept 😉

Oh, speaking of content, I meant to say this in my original comment and forgot: I love that the monsters have individual names. Regardless of whether it impacts game play or not, it's a great detail.

Thanks, maybe I spent too long on that though, and not enough on gameplay.  =P

A very cool and stylized game , however the gameplay  is very repetitive and gets boring.

I liked this little game! Quite minimalistic, really cool. The only issue I see here is that it gets a little repetitive quickly, it would be nice to have more variety of decisions and events.

Nice game! Really good job on the music too. Nice how a game with such a small viewport can still feel fun and engaging. The battle's felt a bit confusing. would have like a more turn based mechanic instead of both attacks happening at the same time.

Nice i like it
