It's a pitty the controls are so difficult, I like your idea a lot.
I got lost right away, not seeing the green dot anywhere. And then, I found it, waited far too long to get the shipment, and blew it in approximately 30 seconds because the truck is impossible to drive for me x)
I see what you tried to do and I think it can lead to something good, but it needs more work to be enjoyable for me.
Hello, I think you have created a very interesting prototype, but you overscoped a lot. The groundwork that you have created can grow into a fun game I think because I had kinda fun playing it. I think classic control scheme with W to accelerate, S to brake, AD to steer should be an option here as well since that's what my brain was trying to do at the beginning. The Map is big, it's shame it doesn't have more uses, like load different types of cargo in other companies. What I thought could be cool idea is when you upgrade inventory space, you will get an extra trailer, so it makes the truck harder to control but with risk goes better rewards. That just from the top of my had, possibilities are almost endless. Good job!
I love the scale of the world you created, though some more direction on where to go would be welcome. The control scheme is super odd, though fun and somehow adds to the quirkiness.
Quite fun game! The controls were hella quirky and still super fun at the same time.
Started off quite confused on where I was supposed to deliver the packages. Obviously I ended up finding the port and managed to decipher the quite poorly placed, organized and labelled buttons there to sell my cargo (or what was left of it). Off to a good start!
Did quite a few rounds, made some bucks and bought some upgrades. I was determined to see what the king's blessing was and how even the automatic delivery thing worked. I was at 20 cargo space with almost all the upgrades bar the last two expensive ones when the following happened.
Stuck there for all eternity! At this point I also noticed the rest of the tutorial messages about different vehicles. Now the port options make a lot more sense but still can't quite continue with the truck being stuck.
Another issue about the shop/port HUD not being great was that the canvas didn't seem to be scaling properly with screen size.
The upgrades and their prices were not balanced great either. I mean, pretty much none of the upgrades except for cargo size and cushioned cargo (which was either too cheap or too op) were almost pointless. Well the first road expansion was worth it since it was so dirt cheap. The 10% production rate seemed completely worthless but I guess it was a bit more speed than that 10%. At least it seemed so. Still the wait on the factory there was the worst part of the game. Just waiting is never fun.
Oh yeah, the Mac version worked but needed some fiddling around to get it to do so. After this it launched just fine...
Anyways, good job! And a first jam game too, impressive work.
Thanks for the feedback! Greatly appreciated. I didn't have time to do much play testing for out of bounds stuff. And I definitely didn't balance the upgrade pricing. But thanks for playing!
I guess we both came up with the same idea then. liked the way movement feels
lmao I saw yours right after I submitted. I like your minimap and UI, I still need to figure out how to do that all properly. It was my first time doing UI's in unity.
UI in unity is always kinda tricky but you get used to it after a while although I still dont know how to set it up to work in different resolutions.
I think the biggest thing for making UI responsive to different resolutions is to use canvas scaler (if I remember correctly, it's there by default on all canvases) with "scale with screen size" option. I usually crank up the scaling factor to screen height.
Thx might give it a try on my next project
I like the concept a lot. I would totally play a full game with this game loop.
BUT
The truck and boat route are boring, and the control scheme is not interesting. I would be amazing that just driving the boat at the truck were good games on their own.
And I feel betrayed with the coming song for the auto-delivery part D:
I guess that will solve the slow pacing of the game, it's to tedious right now.
"And I feel betrayed with the coming song for the auto-delivery part D:" Soon ;)
Thanks for playing!
