This is fun, and the gameplay is polished. The movements and attacks all worked well.  I wish there was a way to attack the robots quicker when they get right on top of you, but I guess it just gives more incentive to avoid them.

You can see my testing/review in this video:

Wow! Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked our game! I'm sorry you never reached the bosses!

The Legend of ZelDax
a dax to the future

Nice, very nostalgic as 'a link to the past' is one of my all time favourite games...

My tips would be to have the delay in-between robot enemy movements to be slightly longer to give the player a chance to move in for an attack before the robot darts off in a random direction again.

As for the Boss battle, the attacks should be telegraphed in some way (like they were in Zelda) so the player has time to position themself to dodge the projectiles.

There is no skill involved otherwise, it's mostly luck and persistance.

Overall it's a very good submission :-)

Overall, a pretty fun game. I love the animations and the artwork, gives me a strong legend of zelda vibe. Audio is often neglected in competitions like this, but the music was pretty good, if not repetitive. My main gripes are as follows:

  • I love momentum/skill based movement, but the implementation here was not perfect and it made it feel more slippery than anything else
  • Some pixels on the player's sprite will randomly turn black depending on the frame of animation (in some cases, the whole outline)
  • It seems like there is no end-goal? I can't seem to find one

It's great, but it feels like a tech demo, or a proof of concept.

There are end bosses, but I forgot to upload our cutscene, so I kind of messed up the ending. I will update it though later.

Fun game - I like the sliding, and appreciated returning to the start of the boss fight after being knocked down!!

This is a cool game, it's a bit hard to fight the boss though because you can't see when it's going to attack. I think adding a dodge roll would make the combat feel a lot better too.

Congratulations to your RPG-ROBOT-SLAY entry. Dax's animations look smooth and his movement controls feel good! Here are a few suggestions: For the standard bad guy robots it might be cool to have a cooldown for the attack to prevent me from running to them an then just spamming "k". For the miniboss fight I personally would like to have some kind of visual or acoustic indicators before he attacks you (It took me way too much attempts to beat him, but this may be just me, cause I'm too bad lol). Also consider a adding a healthbar. The same applies for the final boss, where I enjoyed the OOT-Ganondorf-like combat a lot! One last thing: I don't know if there is a reason in your (unfortunately missing) ending for the music to be positional, but this irritated me. Overall, I like that you tell a story while still having the combat in focus. Keep on working on your game!

Just played your game, I quite liked your interpretation for the theme
Though I wasn't sure what was happening after you beat the miniboss
Good Work!
