Description
The AI took control of the humans and used them to work for the glory of Cyber Overlords endlessly. Upon escaping the highly-secured facility, you find yourself walking through a strange forest. What does it hide and what secrets does it hold? Did you find serenity in nature or something primal that is even more sinister?

In this imaginary game, you play as a runaway desperate to find peace in life. Will you survive the horrors that await you?

The OST was composed and recorded using Reaper, Jackson guitar and Roland VSTs.

1. Escape the Facility - you manage to break from a cyber prison to an outer world.
2. What the Forest Hides - you wander through a beautiful and enchanted forest, but something's not quite right...
3. A Moment of Respite - when the night falls, you seek solace in the warmth of your campfire.
4. Horror that Lurks Beneath - something stirs beneath the ground and wakes you up. You feel dazed and confused. The forest seems to observe you and you see glowing eyes here and there. Each moment they are closer and your instinct tells you to run!
5. A New Morning - you managed to escape the horrors of the Forest and your nightmare has finally ended.

Message from the artist:
This was a crazy week for me composing all of this. Enjoy!

Theme:

Runaway
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The OST depicts a journey of a runaway that runs into the forest... and then needs to run again :). I wanted to convey both the atmosphere of an enchanted forest and the struggle to survive its horrors.

Horror That Lurks Beneath is amazing! I really like it😁

I love all of these! Especially What The Forest Hides. Very beautiful, yet mysterious, then it gets progressively darker.

Really digging the guitar-centric sound of this one. I liked “What the Forest Hides”. There’s a strong sense of 80s action movies and games, though filtered through more modern production and progressions.

Great use of instruments and sounds - I particularly like the building tension in "Escape the Facility", and the real guitars in "A Moment of Respite" and "Horror That Lurks beneath" added a great human touch.

Awesome and unique entry! A Moment of Respite was my favorite track

Ooh I really liked Horror That Lurks Beneath. I think your dark and grimy style really shines in that oppressive guitar riff. Conjures some intense visuals of a monstrous creature-like machine. Keep it up :)

Thanks for your comment, I'll definitely try more things with sort of atmospheric-gritty guitar. I listened too much to such music, but never really had an opportunity to compose and record it myself.

This was a very interesting and well composed OST. I thought you did a wonderful job telling the story through your music and having the raw emotion shine through it as well. My favorite was What the Forest Hides. Everything from the ambient nature to the transition was all well done!

This was one of the most different entries i heard, and that's good, it stands out a lot and doesn't lose quality at that! Very good!

The chords used in Horror That Lurks Beneath is one of my favorite lesser used progressions, really menacing! And love the guitar in A Moment Of Respite.

Why am I seeing a retro RPG game with Snes Graphics while your music plays ^^ ? These are simple, yet intelligently composed pieces that would fit perfectly with anything remotely retro. A Moment Of Respite stands out, it reminded me of the famous Diablo Tristram theme.

Glad you liked that track. I think I need to do a better recording later, but in general I really love such calmer themes.

Great tracks! I quite like how the intro opens. That nervous pace with the rim tap and the occasional synth notes teasing and foreboding.

What the forest hides initially makes me feel quite at ease and tranquil, but then you subvert that and slowly pull it into a darker direction. I liked that tonal shift.

Personal favorite is definitely track 4. Love the synth-wavey quality of that opening synth with the nice resonance sweep. Also, once the guitar kicks in is very satisfying. Makes me think of some 80s action. Shit's really hitting the fan now, isn't it? I can just imagine robots marching onward!

Good job!

Thanks for your comment, tonal shifts were definitely my intent. In the 4th track, I intended some more nature horrors, but maybe that should be robots infested by the forest instead? I quite like that idea :D

And yes, I was exploring some Carpenter vibes here, I like that style.

Ah yes, now that you mention it, I can hear it indeed! :D

Cool concept!

I wish I could give you feedback track by track, but I had to cook lunch while I was listening to this :( still, I was extremely impressed by the guitar playing, and you automatically get bonus points in my eyes for using your own playing in the soundtrack. Track 4 was killerrrrr!!!!! Definitely a favorite among what I've heard so far. Amazing job!

Thanks for the comment, glad you liked the 4th track! It felt great recording it.

Great atmosphere developments in What the Forest Hides with all the chord changes, really nice!
