Description
An alchemist studying time travel has come to the conclusion that part of his soul is in a different dimension. This takes him on a journey across time... Are his findings correct?
Prelude: Introduces the alchemists leitmotif. In the 5/4 time signature.
First Self: Title/Alchemist theme. Also in 5/4. Constantly evolving progression to tell the alchemists story.
35:79 AM: Battle theme for the first dimension.
Timespace: Time travel theme. Contains the alchemists motif after 0:32, made to fit a different set of chords and time signature.
66:66 PM: Battle theme for the other dimension. Darker progression to indicate it is more serious than the first battle theme.
Faced with the Other Self: Theme for the alternate dimension version of the Alchemist (using the character motif to show this). Uses the 11/8 time signature as well as 3/4.
Message from the artist:
Thanks for listening!
Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
I used ticks in some of the tracks to give the idea of a clock, as well as the use of odd time signatures in three of the tracks (Prelude, First Self and Faced with the Other Self). I combined older analog synths like the CMI and Mellotron, with 8 bit sounds and instruments like pianos and violins to give a sense of different time periods.

Pretty cool entry, I especially like the more orchestral pieces!
Prelude: Big extended piano chords paired with a lush reverb. 5/4 time signature is very digestible due long pauses and where the notes are are positioned in the piece. Mysterious, nice introduction to hook the player.
First Self: Different song but it feels like an extension of the Prelude as it has some similar structures. Borrowed chords add some nice harmonic interest.
35:79: I thought it was going to be quite a slow and contemplative soundtrack and suddenly a battle theme explodes. Punchy breakbeat combined the piano stabs create an interesting polyrhythm. Lots of dissonant chords make the battle stressful.
Timespace: Follows the chord directions of the Alchemist theme in a different key. Harmony starts to get really otherworldly (I-II-VI at 0:24?), it really feels like you're traveling through the infinite. Woodwind was really surprising at the second part of the track nice touch.
66:66 PM: Chiptune arpeggios against a breakbeat. It feels fuller with more instruments and more musically developed. It doesn't feel as stressful as 35:79 due to it being more dissonant, it feels like there is a threat but the player has more control this time.
Faced with the Other Self: Faster version of the alchemist theme with some punch from the staccato string chords. Feels very imposing.
There was a nice contrast between the tracks full of physical instruments and the ones which used synthesizers and drums as it's main instruments. Excellent production skills, all the instruments were high quality and the mixing was great. The compositions were harmonically complex and engaging. There are some good melodies, though it sometimes felt like the melodies took a bit of a back seat. Nothing wrong with that though, soundtracks can be good without an in-your-face melody all the time, and it seems that this was the style you chose to go for this jam. Overall a high quality soundtrack, good job.
Lovely piano work and interesting compositions! The battle theme is pretty hype; the changing beats throughout the song give it a chaotic feel that works really well. Timespace is a great mood-setter and has a nice callback to the Alchemist's theme. 66:66pm is such a perfect name for a boss track for this theme. Love the piano chords in this one, great tension and energy to it as well. Faced With the Other Self is an interesting shift for the soundtrack, love the strings here. Overall, excellent composition and fun listen. Nice work!
Prelude: This is a very pretty theme for the alchemist. I know you said this is in 5/4, but my ears are hearing 4/4. It looks like you subdivided your 5/4 into 4 equal segments and that’s where your quarter notes landed. I think this is a cool effect because the one spot with the 16th notes is the only place where the subdivision lines up with the 5/4 and things just sound slightly off which works well for your story.
First Self: This is a nice expansion on the previous track. The harmonic progression is really beautiful and accompanies the melody well. I like that you use tension and release in your chord choices to show dynamic emotions in the story.
35:79 am: This track has a lot of energy and definitely feels like a battle theme. The polyrhythm of the triplet subdivision over the 4/4 drums adds to the intrigue and chaotic feeling of the track which has me ready to fight for my safety!
Timspace: The pads, piano, and drums are such a nice sounding combination of instruments. I really enjoyed hearing the Alchemist’s motif return in a new context in this piece. The flute gives the spacey atmosphere a little more of an exotic flavor which I think works well for traveling to a different time.
66:66 pm: The drums are really impressive in this track! This breakbeat is perfect for a battle theme. I really like the synth arpeggio waves that are consistently flying above our heads throughout. The gentle piano chords seem to me to represent the Alchemist keeping cool in the midst of the craziness around him.
Faced With the Other Self: The strings give a completely different flavor to the theme which is really cool, especially with the interesting time signatures. I really like the chord progressions you used which give emotion to the alternate version of the Alchemist as well which makes me think he also has his own story arc.
Overall: I appreciate that you used a singular theme to represent a character in your story and adapted that theme to meet the needs of the different situations he finds himself in. Your battle themes are very impressive rhythmically and I find that the entire atmosphere you have created for you OST is very pleasant to listen to. Great work and thank you for sharing!
Yeah, I honestly wasn't so sure about the first one being in 5/4 due to the equal segments like you said (since its usually something like 3+2). I'm glad it still created a cool effect though! Thanks for the feedback, I always enjoy your detailed thoughts!
What an awesome journey you took us into with your music! First Self, Timespace and Faced with the Other Self were my favourite tracks! I'm a fan of the harmonies. Amazing job!
Thanks!
Yooo loving Timespace and the drum and bass of 66:66. I headbang to that! But Timespace is straight out from Gran Turismo titles (maybe with slightly different orchestration) which I really really like. I love Gran Turismo, you helped me travel back to good ol' times ;)
Thanks! I'm glad it reminded you of one of your favorite series!
Original use of 5/4, which I did not expect. Really interesting!
66:66pm nailed it!
Thank you!!
loving the Floating through space followed by a rollercoaster of energy through out. Its hard to make such a chaotic vibe feel so groovin, you nailed it with 66:66, well done!
Thanks!
This is great! Big big fan in particular of that chord progression accompanying the Alchemist's leitmotif, so mysterious and dreamy with an added sense of forward momentum and adventure. Very varied and well written soundtrack overall. Outstanding job!!
Thanks!!
Prelude: I love the use of piano in this! It gives such a classic vibe and sets up the vibe of the dimension the alchemist is from.
First Self: I love the jazzy elements and the evolving piano from the prelude! I like how the song progresses, the bass gets lower and the chords start to sound weirder (in the best way lol) and creepier almost.
35:79am: This one really reminds me of an Omori battle song, and love the jazzy elements used that were set up by "First Self" brought back in this one. Great tune!
Timespace: I'm always a sucker for ambient sounds, leitmotifs, and great drums and this track gets all of those!
66:66pm: Also some great Omori vibes, really mysterious and creepy. Really cool!
Faced with the Other Self: I really like how you brought it back to the classical-esque sound for this, where the alchemist finds his other half, showing the connection, plus with the leitmotif.
Thanks!
some groovy rhythms here. nice work.
Thanks!
I have mixed thoughts about your work, at first sight everything is ok and sound good, but something conflicts with my taste and perception, maybe I just don't like such kind of melodies or I don't quiet know what, anyway, you've made a great work, my respect.
Yeah I understand, everyone has different tastes. Thanks for the feedback!
Very nice piano theme for the protagonist! These unrolled chords sounds great :). I did expect that beat in 35:79 :O but that turned out to work well!
This one and 66:66 has that old school punchy 90's vibe, neat!
Thanks! I had a lot of fun composing the piano main theme.
I really enjoyed the incorporation of irregular time signatures in the tracks especially the time signature changes in Faced With Another Self
Thanks! I'm glad you liked the odd time signature use!
This is so cool! Gives me Pokémon and Omori vibes (I think it's already been mentioned in the comments so I wasn't the only one who thought this!) The harmonies are interesting and I can't emphasize how well the metric modulation in Faced With The Other Self is carried out! I also enjoyed the curious tone Timespace gave off. Good job!
Thank you! I wasn't sure how clean the 11/8 to 3/4 switch was, so I'm really glad that it flowed well for you! Omori and the Pokemon series are two of my favorites musically, so I'm really glad it gave those vibes!
What a coincidence! 35:70pm is also when I sleep! (also usually walk my dogs at around 66:67pm so close enough)
I also used to play the piano religiously so the first 2 tracks hit close to home.
35:70pm also happens to be my favorite time of the day, lol. Thanks, I had a lot of fun working on the piano tracks!
Excellent combination of sounds and instruments you have going on! The piano is lovely, and I can imagine the faster-paced tracks getting players pumped up during battles - but I think my personal favourite is "Faced With The Other Self". Dramatic yet smooth ... great stuff.
Thank you!
Very nicely done - the first two tracks with that piano sets a tone for what's coming next. Beatifully arranged and with a good "hook" that keeps them tied together. But then the rest of the music really takes You on a journey with twists and devations. Sometimes like a 90s coin-op musical soundscape, antoher time a more modern sound - IMHO all tied together in Timespace. Really nice work!
Thanks! Yeah, that's the effect I tried to create with Timespace, glad it worked!
Super cool! I love that you made both beautiful piano pieces and hard hitting bops. The production and the composition are great, and everything just sounds good.
Great job!
Thanks!
Amazing, I really like the decision of the instruments and it really feels like an story. Congrats, great job!
Thanks!!!
