Description
I'm bad at naming genres, but Grandpa's Clock uses more sounds like piano or strings, while Nightmare Tick Tock relies mostly on synths and tick tock sound.

My imaginary game is a small 2D horror game, which takes place in grandpa's old house. During the day the atmosphere is rather cozy, which is represented by Grandpa's Clock theme, but at night the vibe is much creepier, represented by Nightmare Tick Tock.

I used LMMS, since it's a free DAW and I'm too poor to afford, for example, FL Studio.

Leitmotifs:
Grandpa's Clock pizzicato ostinato is almost the same as Nightmare Tick Tock main melody on 0:20, but with added harmony and slightly altered to fit within major key.
Grandpa's Clock (0:13) and Nightmare Tick Tock (1:25) share the same piano chords (also altered to fit within selected keys)
And also the same arpeggio - Grandpa's Clock (well hearable on 1:10) and Nightmare Tick Tock (1:25)
Both use the same clock sample.

Message from the artist:
Hello everyone! I'm Mateoninho, I'm from Poland and I'm making music since late 2021.

I hope you will enjoy two tracks from the soundtrack for my nonexistent game, both gentle Grandpa's Clock and atmospheric Nightmare Tick Tock.

Theme:

Tick Tock...

How does it fit the theme?
My imaginary game is mostly about the clock and also tracks uses clock samples (in Nightmare Tick Tock it's more hearable than in Grandpa's Clock)

Grandpa’s Clock: This track has a magical quality that almost sounds like Christmas morning to me. The underlying tonic drone helps tie everything together in a very consonant sound. I like that you put the clock ticking on the offbeats to add a little more energy to the piece. That modulation was unexpected, but came at a perfect time when I was just wondering what was going to happen next.

Nightmare Tick Tock: The major scale turned to a minor scale! The airy pad you use is really creepy and is really great for this track to convey the fear sense. The heavy kick drum almost sounds like footprints to me which adds to the whole nightmare atmosphere. These are two related but opposite tracks that complement each other well and use many techniques that keep this haunted clock house feeling cohesive in both day and night themes. Good job and thank you for sharing!

I hear what youre' going for by juxtaposing the two tracks, and I think there's definitely a sort of "gotcha" game where you'd want to keep the horror aspect of the game hidden that the first track would hide. For my part, I would love a bit more variety in the pizzicato strings in the first track, and possibly some kind of foreshadowing for the upcoming horror, but that lends itself better to the sort of game I would want to play, and there are definitely people that want to have a cutesy intro section with no indication it's a horror game underneath, where I think it would work. Overall, I think the second track works better for me, as I love the persistent ticking and thumping and think it generates a strong sense of urgency. Also, as I'm discovering, I'm a sucker for a kind of slightly detuned/chorused tubular bell sound.

The juxtaposition between the tracks is pretty cool, and i like how you went more electronic with the night theme, it makes it feel more unnatural and almost mystical...? Idk but i like it.

The production is pretty solid, and the day theme is pretty catchy.

I like it! Good job!

This is a super interesting game idea! Maybe you start out with the day event and depending on how well you behave or all the secret things you do, that will determine how many items you'll have access to to aid you on your escape or something!

Really like the laughing on Nightmare version, unsettling!

(also uh i might consider a different font next time for the cover, my mind initially read it as...uhm....Tick C0ck you know?)

Thanks!

And yeah, I'll definitely pick another font.

Good job! I liked it, particularly the EDM/trap influence mixed with the more acoustic sounds. I also liked the contrast between the two pieces. For someone who's been doing this less than 2 years this is high level, particularly in a software like LMMS. Very atmospheric, you know what you're doing. I hope I hear more from u!
