Description
Clocks... The Soundtrack! - OST Composing Jam #6 Submission

A soundtrack for an imaginary wacky (and legally questionable) adventure of the Time Anomaly Preventers, T.A.P. for short. A group of special agents curated not only by their skills, and intelligence but also their genetic abnormalities that allow them to endure the influence of "Timey Thing(tm)" wristwatches which speeds up the users' physical and mental capabilities to the extent of perceiving a millisecond to be relatively as long as a normal second!

As our protagonist, named "Main Character", a 17-year-old Japanese boy woke up to a call briefing him to investigate an irregular time shift in Italy. One thought popped into his mind, "Guess I'll be late to math class today."

...I didn't think this through, deal with it.

Electronic, Breakcore, Jazz

Mainly used VSTs, and samples I've bought and/or have legal rights to use to compose

DAW used is Ableton Live 10

Message from the artist:
Yo, thanks for listening. Have a nice day!

Theme:

Tick Tock...
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
Clock, mechanical, and time-related sounds were implemented into the songs to fit the word theme.
The picture inspired the weirder dreamy soundscape the tracks were composed under and its' imaginary game.

Dang, I really don't know how you can pull together six such richly detailed tracks with so much attention to sound design and mixing in so short of time. The cuica-like synth in Alarm Clock Type Beat might be my favorite. Very impressive entry and a joy to listen to. Thanks for making and sharing.

Thx a ton! I just followed a rule I made for myself of literally committing to ALL ideas. Like, if I don’t like it, I’ll finish it anyway haha.

  • This is uh...really, really impressive. Very high production value, feels very unified and on-theme. energetic but not overwhelming beats and synths. even the alarm is only minimally obnoxious
  • somewhat silly track titles are a help here
  • I could see it being used for anything from an action-puzzley platformer through more of a straight action game, depending
  • But honestly this might get listened to again by me just for fun

Thx! I was going to make the alarm clock song a troll but it got vibey and I didn’t want to ruin it haha.

i love all the production elements that went into this. all the effects and instruments sound straight out of a game that you described. Super cool that you went this more electronic route with the compositions. could def hear these in a heist flick or game.

Thanks! I was influenced mostly by deadmau5 since when I was young hence why my music turned out the way it did haha.

Yo this is so neat! ;) ;)

No but seriously, super creative entry and mix of genre. It makes it super fun, interesting and entertaining to listen to! Really nice composition and use of sound design elements and percussions. Amazing job overall!

Thx a ton! (if only i had a nickel for every single time i got that pun-)

I really like the third track here, it's got a really cool groove going on! All in all a well put together soundtrack!

Love the sort of organized chaos in this album! It's like a Persona soundtrack went on an acid trip, in the best possible kind of way. The alarm clock beat is a really nice touch in the track... oh, that's what it's called lmao. The various percussive sound effects are masterfully done, giving the album a nice consistency to it while still making every track feel fresh compared to the last. Overall, a really fun listen when combined with the humor in your track descriptions. Great work!

I consider “alarm clock type beat” to be the peak of my naming conventions.

This soundtrack remainds me of like... Mix of Persona and Just Shapes and Beats (I don't know why). Great mix of Wackiness, Catchiness, and a bit of Chaos. 5 Stars

Great soundtrack! I like Alarm Clock Type Beat! Keep it up!

IT’S TIMING TIME: You have a really nice groove set up with the drum samples, the orchestral bass, and the clock ticking effects. This would be a good backing track for a sneaky part of a movie or game given the prominent amount of space between notes and stylistically absent melody line.

Snoozing Isn’t Allowed: I really like the warbled alarm sound in the melody line - that’s a really cool effect and gives the sense that the main character is still groggy after waking up. I like that the ending is similar to the first track, but ends on a completely different chord which makes it feel quite different.

Sick Beat for Slaying Time Anomalies: The part at the 1 minute mark is really cool and brings a lot of energy to the table! You have certainly shown your talent in making intricate and interesting beats.

Alarm Clock Type Beat: This is very clever to create a beat out of an alarm clock. I like the pitch effects you put on the alarm sound toward the end.

The Part Where It’s Serious: The prominent ticking works very well in this track as you build up a suspense and anxiety throughout this track, similar to the first with lots of space between notes.

Punctual Success: Wow what I cool-sounding intro! This song feels very full and because of that is my favorite of the OST. I love the sultry saxophone sound. Overall, you’ve created a cool collection of beats that fit very nicely together and would work well in the game/cinematic scenario you described. Good work and thank you for sharing!

Developer

Thx a ton! The main thing making the alarms sound like that is automating the "MISHBY" plugin by Freakshow Industries. I've never used it in an actual song before and wanted to touch on some dusty parts of my collection for this jam as a mini-challenge.

Great production, creativity, amazing groove. This music has everything! I loved it so much!

Clever writing, excellent mix, lots of cool instruments, melodies, and rhythmic ideas.

One of my favorites from the jam so far. Great work!

All your tracks have such a great vibe!

Wow.

I think you had me at the opening with 'It's Timing Time' (great title), and the tracks that followed carried a sense of intrigue and action that really fit together. 'Sick Beat..' is funky as but also references slips in time/timing which was cleverly done and really neat. And 'The Part Where It's Serious' was suitably serious and sinister. Super impressive entry!

(Edit: sorry, misspelt the first title! :( )

The sound design here is really cool. The ticking and bike wheel chain sounds in the first track are sick! Sick Beat for Slaying Time Anomalies is a bop, and it really helps set the mood for the game. The bit of breakcore in Punctual Success was really good, I only wish it was longer! The Part Where It's Serious is a nice break of pace as well, it felt good to chill after so many high-energy tracks. Great work!

Developer

Yoo, it’s epic you spotted the bike chain haha. Thx!

Truly well made and professional sounding tracks! After listening to so many entries, this one is really original as it takes the theme from different angle compared to the other :)

Developer

Thx! 🙏 🙏

Fun and cool! The beginning and transition in Punctual Success are awesome. Keep up the great work!

IT'S TIMING TIME: I really like the use of clock ticks to get us right into the sound of these tracks!

Snoozing Isn't Allowed: I really like how creepy this sounds, reminds of Terraria and underground Mario tracks.

Sick Beat for Slaying Time Anomalies: This one is REALLY cool! I love the bass and the guitar sample in the intro, it really reminds me of Persona 5. I love how it builds later on too!

Alarm Clock Type Beat: I really like the use of the alarm clocks in the intro, and I like how it evolves into this building ambient sound with the beeps and the synth sound.

The Part Where It's Serious: I like how the vibe makes me feel like a boss fight is coming up, like where I am is not safe (in the best way possible lol).

Punctual Success: I love the intro and the bass in this one, and how it turns into a spy sort of sound.

Developer(+1)

thx for writing!

also…

you’re not safe.

no one is.

listening to this felt like getting attack by really aggressive bats from every angle. yes, that is a compliment. seriously, the production quality is really good for how chaotic the music got! and you can totally tell where the inspiration from the theme is in each track.  a very good performance from you :))))

Developer

That's probably the most unique compliment I've got thx a ton haha.

Very fun to listen to! The mix makes these funny cross genres look pro and tasty :) nice job!

Thank you! You see, the trick is to push the limiter daily until you can hear this ringing in your ear. My friends call it tinnitus but I believe it’s when the frequencies are making friends!

Submitted(+1)

The beginning of that last track is one of the coolest things I've heard in this jam so far!! Sick drums and really fun effects with the synths as well, I enjoyed listening to this a lot.
