Description
These were made in Cubase using VSTs that emulated real instruments rather than going for a very synthesised sound. The soundtrack would ideally be for an rpg/adventure game. Clockwork factory would be set in a workshop with wind-up mechanical robots. The passing of a lifetime would be set in the main character's home town.

Message from the artist:
My first composition jam- hope you guys enjoy (:

Theme:

Tick Tock...
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
Both include ticking sounds as a percussive element. In Clockwork Factory, this represents the clockwork figures. In the passing of a lifetime, it indicates the passage of time.

Clockwork Factory immediately caught my interest. And yes, wow, what a nostalgic sound you've captured here! I enjoyed the orchestration, especially the use of toy percussion. Thanks for making and sharing.

OMG this sounds like the Mario and Luigi GBA and DS games. I could even imagine how they could fit in those games. I like these so much! Well done!

Idk why but this got me bopping my head side to side while dancing and making weird arm movements. I like how wacky this sounds. Cute vibes with nice instruments and a good bit of articulation too.

For me, this evokes the N64/Gamecube era sound in a big way. These tracks would drop flawlessly into a Harvest Moon/Rune Factory sort of game. I think it's telling that a lot of commenters are able to place these themes directly into some genre or game series that's familiar to them - there is a familiarity to the tracks that really seems to evoke memories of people's favorite childhood experiences. Awesome work.

This is so good! I like how whimsical Clockwork Factory is, I feel like you just pulled that from some sort of Nostalgic video game like Super Mario 64 or Sim Theme Park. The Passage of Time sounds nicely moody, something in me makes me feel like this would be put in Super Mario Galaxy, just because it's very ambient, but present at the same time, it's melancholy yet happy. I wonder if I'm being a bit biased, but this is great. Keep of the good work and I hope you win!

Clockwork Factory perfectly matches the setting you wrote. I love how a clock feel is present in the percussive elements, and these melodies are great.

The Passing Of A Lifetime feels kinda sneaky with the chord choices and instrumentation. Makes me think of nighttime. Later in, it sounds more like a daytime town theme to me, with some very very beautiful chord choices.

Great work!

Very good for the first Jam! Nice melodies! But I can say the first track feels a bit like a scetch, and you better combine both tracks in one playlist to be much easier for the participants to listen and vote.

Sounds simple, but it has charm. I like it!

The Clockwork Factory feels like taken from som kids cartoon show, and for me sets a nice tone for a game with childish (in a positive way) aestetics; torsdag, a whimiscal hero and a world to explore. Wind-up robots would for sure fit in here!

The more elaborate soundscape in Passing... would suit a more varied game level where our hero explores a bigger world.

Your use of a ticking sound of course ties into the theme but also gives a snse pm time being important in the game play.

Nice job!

What a great choice of instrumentation, it complements the cute melody and overall theme very well. I liked that every clock related element was placed in a subtle and pleasing manner to the ear. Beautiful!!

This is very cool! I know you tried going for something that sounds more live and real, but i think this sounds a lot more like something from the SNES or N64, and i like it a lot! Honestly, the only complaint i got is that the tuba on Clockwork factory is little too "late" (as in, it takes the tuba a bit too long to actually hit the note, which makes it sound like it's not with the rest of the instruments).

Very cute, and i liked it a lot!

The music really brings the setting to life with its incorporation of diegetic sounds. Gives each location so much character!

Nice work! Kinda reminded me of something from an old nintendo game
