Description
Worlds Across Time is my submission to the 6th OST Composing Jam, and I'm pretty proud of it. The fictional game it's based on features a journey through different environments across different time periods, from the tranquil forests of the past to the overworked cities of the future. You, as the protagonist, are taken through these different worlds across time to help the issues of the people in these areas and make the entire world's past, present, and future just a little bit better. I really hope you enjoy it and would appreciate any feedback. Without further ado, I hope you enjoy your listen!

Theme:

Tick Tock...

How does it fit the theme?
The titles of the individual tracks and the description of the game help paint a narrative of a protagonist adventuring through moments of time, and each song tends to have a fairly repetitive element or motif that helps instill a feeling of consistent time.

A New Age: This makes me think of an early-game JRPG track. Good feels!
Forest of Time: Woodwinds always give me forest vibes. Nice forest theme!
Century Peaks: Ooh, I really like this. I know its probably not a town setting given the name, but it really gives me town theme vibes.
Hourglass Desert: OST is starting to get dark! Cool dissonant choices that remind me of some Majora's Mask tracks.
Immortal Seas: This rhythm is perfect for a sea track (pirate kind of vibes to me).
Overclock Capital: Really gives me "empire" type of vibes. Cool, tense track.
Time and Time Again: this is a really positive credits vibe. A happy ending to the OST!

Nice work!

A New Age (Opening): This track has some similarities that make me think of Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance. But the instrumentation gives it a much more classical sound. Very jovial and celebratory theme!

Forest of Time: I appreciate your use of counterpoint in this track. One thing I notice that sticks out in my ear a little is that sometimes the bass or low line moves in the way that a melody normally would, but sometimes those low frequencies don’t always do well with holding dissonant or non-diatonic notes the same way that a higher line would. This causes this track to have a couple places that feel a little too dissonant, but it only happens momentarily and the rest is great!

Century Peaks: I like how the main theme seems to poke its head in even though this track has its own unique sound. I like the use of the 3 over 2 polyrhythms which adds a rhythmic flare to the otherwise straightforward rhythm.

Hourglass Desert: This piece feels much darker. I appreciate your use of stepwise downward motion as if to symbolize sand falling down through an hourglass. I think that your dissonances work stylistically well here. The crunch of some of the notes makes me shudder a bit in the way that I think you are trying to invoke.

Immortal Seas: More polyrhythms! The triplet feel and the use of chromatic passing tones gives a sense of ocean-faring shanty-like energy. I like how you use multiple melody lines at once when the strings have the dance-like melody and the horns have the more drudging theme.

Overclock Capital: This track has a very serious tone to it. I really like your percussion work on this one!

Time and Time Again (Ending): I can hear the echoes of the first opening track in this one. This particular chord progression that is a hallmark of this OST sounds so celebratory to me and naturally works really well for a final ending track.

Overall: This is a lot of impressive music with different orchestral styles of sound that is all really enjoyable to listen to. I like that the music itself tells a unique story and takes us to many different places. Great work and thank you for sharing!

Wow, here's an ambitious orchestrated OST. I appreciate all the effort that clearly went into it. I enjoyed listening to the different moods across the different tracks. I echo others' comments about the mixing and dissonant notes. However, this is a great effort. I especially loved the main string melody in Immortal Seas. Thanks for making and sharing! Next time I hope you can get streaming set up!

Epic, grand, sweeping tracks! I enjoyed listening to these and letting them take me on a journey. "Immortal Seas" was my favourite for its catchy beat, melody, and adventurous vibe.

My only two recommendations would be: I think the deep drumbeats should have been louder than the clapping in "Immortal Seas" for a more powerful sound; and I felt a slight dissonance in "Forest of Time", as the notes sometimes clashed with each other in ways that didn't feel exactly intentional.

Overall though, very nicely done!

very fun compositions! love the big orchestra sound you've got going on. the 3 to 2 polyrhythm in "Century Peaks" was a good way to integrate the theme, as well as the classic 6/8 pirate sound in "Immortal Seas"!

if i may offer some advice, i did notice that your compositions felt a bit muddy at times, and i think it's because your melodies often use notes that are not in the key everything else is in. those notes tend to work best as transitional notes, and it's usually best not to stay on them too long.

that being said, these were still very fun to listen to! i can tell that a lot of thought has been put into these, and you should be proud of your work. well done :)))

Great work, pretty epic compositions, and an impressive scope! Using BBCs dynamics and expressions a bit more would give your strings and winds a much more natural feel, but the actual composition and orchestration is great! well done!

Very complete epic fantasy sound track. Nice variety of themes and instrumentation, the soundtrack kept evolving and it really felt like a satisfying journey.

Two minor problems I came across:
1. The mix gets a little too wide at times. Example is in Track 2, about 51 seconds, mix gets a little too wide and some of the lower mid frequencies disappear a bit in mono.  Should check it with a correlometer like https://www.voxengo.com/product/correlometer/features/
2. In "The Immortal Seas", the claps sound a little harsh in the high end and stick out too much, it doesn't feel as one cohesive blend on the beat. Think rolling back the highs or changing the samples would fix the problem quite easily.

These are minor problems though, I quite enjoyed the whole experience. Well produced and composed, good job.

The songs sounded MASSIVE! Good job on the arrangements. I feel like for more "epic" tracks, especially the first 3, there might either be too much low or too little high. I would've considered saturating some high instruments to aim for a more balanced mix.

It's still really impressive with this style to make 7 tracks and for them all to still sound complete!

I really appreciate the amount of work that went into this, particularly in terms of sheer scale of the arrangements you did. Very big, cinematic sound. I also like the use of the motif throughout.  Good job!
