Description
This piece was made exclusively for Lone Rabbit's OST Composing Jam #6
and during jam time only!

All plugins used are 100% legally owned, all samples are my own recordings (shakers, some drums, etc.)
except for the one "SFX Cellar Impact" sound, which I have a license for.

Theme: "Tick Tock..."

My imaginary game is a fantasy-esque 1st person RPG in the style of Skyrim.
It's based around the ancient norse and celtic cultures, architectures and societies.
In the game there are ambushes, plots and fights between two opposing tribes.
This song is the main theme and bits of it play during different scenarios of the game (Title, Menu, etc.)
The connection to the "Tick Tock..." theme is, that this song plays during the one very big ambush and it's preparations. The opposing army is hiding in the misty swamps and waits for the perfect moment to strike on the enemy!

I actually wasn't able to work on this project everyday, but originally I planned on making several ingame music tracks as well. Well, this is the one track I got, enjoy!

Thanks for watching / listening!

The male chorus is well-produced and sets the stage well for the direction this track will be headed in. I like the break in the middle with the gentle drums, soft choral pad, and the flute giving a nice rest from the war march feel that the rest of the piece has. The drum samples you use are epic and do a nice job of showing the intensity of the track. The pipes-like instrument is a very nice touch as well to add further character to the track. Overall this is nicely produced and has an epic cinematic quality which I am impressed by. Great work and thank you for sharing!

And a massive THANKS to you for the detailed feedback! :) much appreciated!!

Huge, cinematic, medieval sounding RPG OST. Well done, professional quality!

love the viking vibes!! the choir horns, and hurdy gurdy (is that a hurdy gurdy?) sounded HUGE together! i can imagine the ambush you describe quite vividly. very nicely done :)))

Developer

Thanks a lot and yes this is a hurdy gurdy :)

I didn't care about what instruments actually came from what cultures, I only went for a thick sound regardless of where the instruments originated from :D So this is most likely not a historically correct song! :P

What a huge mix! Great selection of instruments, too. :)

It does give the Skyrim vibes. I think it's very nicely arranged, in a way that it really creates a sense of hype and epic!

I think you really nailed the Norse music vibe! Great weight to the impactful moments in your track which gives those calmer moments even more tranquility!

Thanks so much! I was waiting for people to complain about the instruments, cause they're actually from very different cultures haha

But I felt like blending them all, cause the imaginary game is about these different cultures clashing.

Remind me heavily of The Witcher 3, and the house rumble with epicness from my speaker :]]

Kudos to you for quite a nordic music :]]

Although I kind of wishes for a section (around 16 bars+) near the end, just a longer ambient with strings and each male choir notes play space further from each other, hauntingly then finally silence.

Developer

Awesome ideas! Thanks!

I liked this track! Its clear that you have a good grasp on how Skyrim sounds and I think the instruments you chose worked well here. I wish the vocals got louder/were more present because it felt like they were meant to grow, but they did not. The bagpipe melody was very on point as well. Great work!

Thanks a lot! :)
