Description
first song is chiptune, i had stuff like sonic rush, jet set radio, and tony hawk's pro skater in mind, games where you're constantly on a timer.
the second one is the same melody as the first, but with a piano, and more chill, like for either a game over screen or a moment where you're just chilling.

Theme:

Tick Tock...
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
i thought about time and games, so arcade games because they're quick, also thought about sonic because it's fast and there's a timer, so i tried something with breakbeats like the sonic rush soundtrack, and used a metronome at some parts, because, yknow, tick tock.
i had the melody done as just a midi before doing both tracks, for that i looked at the image, which to me seemed more calm, so i tried a melody that could work as both a faster song and a slower one.
for the second one i wanted to do something like the catherine soundtrack, specifically the song that plays when you're in the bar.
i wanted something for a situation like that, or like the private room in death stranding, with the first song representing gameplay and the second just chilling, one where your time is running out and one where you have all the time in the world.

Woah that FL metronome caught me by surprise haha! I like the playful melodies and the vocal effects! That IV V iii vi progression always has a good place in my heart... then the Lo-Fi vibes hit T_T I'm amazed! Good job!

Tick Tock: The breakbeats really get the energy moving in this track! I like the use of the metronome to keep the timer in the mind of the player. The melody you wrote works very well in this fast-paced song and definitely sounds a lot like a Sonic game.

Tick Tock *Gameover*: This subdued lo-fi version of the melody feels like a gameover with the pitch warbling and the slow distorted feel. I like the change in pace from the first track to this one to slow things down a bit. Good job and thank you for sharing your music!

Very nice really driving theme! Good work!

brilliant how the melody works so well in both tracks! they're both genuinely really nice to listen to, and they definitely feel appropriate for a fast paced game (like a super fast platformer).

really nicely done :)))

I think this entry is the one with the greatest disparity in effort level between its album art and the album itself. I was like "what is this pink and white scribble" then I listened to the tracks and the album art ceased to matter. This is one of a couple entries that as soon as it was over, I listened to it immediately over again. Several of the longer entries of this jam overstayed their welcome, but yours left me wanting more, lots more. So much love packed into these few minutes. Great stuff.

I definitely can feel the arcade vibe! Loved how speedy the first track was, I think my favorite element was the added vocals. The detuned second track is also great, I can imagine a "continue?" floating on the screen.

That first track is a total bop! It's incredibly dynamic and there's a lot going on, but nothing feels like too much and everything comes together really nicely. Solid work overall!

Intro caught me off guard in a good way. I really get the Sonic Rush and JSRF vibes from these tracks. The first track is such a feel good track with that ii-V-I-vi progression. You perfectly captured the speed feel in this track. Wasn't expecting the second track to be lo-fi after the first one, but I love it! Would totally study to this one haha. Love the use of the same chords and motif to tie them together.

Great work!

Love the synth vocals and the drops! The melodies are really fun and the groove makes me want to run and collect some rings. Love that the gameover music is detuned.

tick tock: what a bright, fun track! It's important, in competitions like this, to rely on the theme in order to stand out. The sounds of people counting, as well as the metronome, are smart ways to tie in that theme and win some extra creativity points ;)

I'm super impressed by the way you keep this track sounding fresh. Lots of fun melodies and constant changes in the beat. This track belongs right up there with other sonic tracks.

gameover: love the chillhop vibe here! Another smart way to establish unity between tracks, especially those which have such contrasting vibes, is to borrow elements like chord progressions and melodies-- which you do beautifully here. It almost feels like a variation of the previous track. The oscillating pitch bend is a hair too wide for me, and it just confuses my ear instead of sounding like an old-timey piece of machinery. Also, the bass drum is really forward in the mix.

In all, these two short tracks are bursting with personality and energy, and sound very unified despite their contrasting vibes. Great work, and keep writing!

I approached this entry nervously - I wasn't expecting to be blown away based on the understated cover art and game/music description. I am happy to say I was COMPLETELY wrong - the first track was a great listen and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nailed it, well done.

thank you! glad the cover doesn't match the song lmao
