Interesting concept! Kudos for the amount of effort you put into this

Thank you, I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
Ngl I felt like I was (unintentionally) pandering a little by throwing a bunch of pictures and videos of my cats around, but also... just look at her. I should get a tax credit for taking care of this adorable creature, I'm obviously doing the world a service.
Thank you so much for the detailed response, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Marnie can't read (AFAIK) but I keep telling her how popular she is! She (probably) doesn't speak English either, but she likes the attention.
Here she is with her "weird looking cat" friend, Willow, who was uninterested in her bizarre adventures.
Thank you for the listen and the kind words!
I added the record spindown to the middle of "Her Shadow's Touch" because I felt the vinyl/record effects on the violin weren't coming across clearly - it just sounded like the VST for the violin wasn't playing correctly. Originally, the song was just a mirror image of the original with a lot of pitch effects and "warbling," but the dissonance was pretty heavy handed and it just didn't feel great to listen to. I think I spent more time on this one than any other track, and I almost left it out of the submission entirely, but it turned out more or less OK. If anything, it was good practice in experimenting with the unknown!
You can probably tell from your comment about my strengths (and that was spot on,) but Minions of the Ceiling Fan was definitely my fave track. Fast-paced battle themes are my comfort zone. :)
Thanks again for the listen, I always love to see feedback from experienced and talented composers!
What a unique concept for an album, I love it! The idea that there is a virus that just wants to chill and make a forest filled with critters is very amusing and endearing to me. Also, you really did just sample sticks and rocks for the percussion... you absolute madman/woman/etc
This was a really cool OST, the sticks and rocks mixed with the nature sounds and orchestration is quite a unique overall sound and really makes your OST stand out. Beautiful composition, I always get nervous when I read the word "ambient" before listening to a soundtrack, but this was still filled with plenty of melody and engaging to listen to.
My biggest critique is that "Nightfall.bat" needed a lot more bat squeaking. Otherwise, excellent work overall that was truly a joy to experience.
A lot of good foundations here. I am actually impressed this whole thing was done in BandLab. I would echo the critiques shared in other posts, but most importantly I want to express that I can see the ideas you were going for and hear a lot of potential as a composer as you continue to grow and develop your skills. Keep it up, I look forward to hearing what you come up with in the future!
Perhaps the real treasure was the (mechanized fish)
Cool soundtrack overall, wasn't expecting (Shreddage?) to come in for the Subaquatic Saunter (Action) track, but it was a welcome addition. Your final boss theme slaps, love the switch up on the overdrive and distortion. Nice, complete sounding OST. Great work!
Love that you just took the opportunity to practice something different with the cinematic trailer, though I admit the concept of a cinematic trailer for a gameboy game was quite amusing to me ahaha
Overall solid soundtrack, fun and lighthearted vibes from the Main Town Theme and your Battle Theme slaps! Great work!
The artwork is super cute, too, and that frog is obviously the final boss
Nice blend of synth leads with tradition orchestration in "Imagination Is What You Make Of It." The following track follows suit with an adventurous, curious vibe that fits the title. Interesting textures and weight in "Fear In Yourself." "Until We Meet Again" wraps things up nicely, calling back to everything that came before it. I really like how the beginning of "World of My Design" is repeated here at the end, and also how you developed the same sort of theme from that track differently in "Fear In Yourself;" it gives the ending a little bit more tension and uncertainty than it had when it was first played in the beginning of the album. Very nice work!
You really nailed the blending of classical and electronica that you described. I felt like the "Antonio Banderas at a computer meme" (whatever it's called lmao) when the drums arrived in "Pathway Open," it was such a great and colorful development! The synths that followed continued moving things in the right direction, really great work there! In "Glass Dreams," you did it again - the way the strings drop into that bassy rhythm as the drums kick in... whew! Those few seconds of dropout before the song swings into a different direction, it was a wild ride! By "The Entryway" I feel I'm pretty used to your surprises by now, and then you just kept the whole song a solid vibe throughout.
Really great work here, this was so much fun to listen to. One of my faves for sure!
Beautiful soundtrack overall. Love the depth on the various string articulations, from the pizzicato in "Sujin" to the big staccato notes in "Faith," the strings do a great job of filling in the space in your mix. in a fulfilling way. Your snare might be just a bit too present and powerful towards the beginning of Prove Yourself, but it feels a bit more balanced out with the rest of the mix towards the latter half. Would have liked to see some more variation in this track overall, it's great up to around 0:46, but the energy dies down a little TOO much to keep the battle energy going. A little more emphasis on the drums here, maybe a fast, low snare roll, could help to keep things moving.
Overall, great soundtrack with beautiful orchestration. Excellent work!
I love the story concept you went with for the theme, very interesting and unique take! Great sound design, lovely textures. There is very much a flowing, soothing vibe that well-reflects that emotions and imagery that you have described. Echoes of a Dream has this sort of pseudo lo-fi quality to it that's difficult to describe for me, it feels incredibly accurate towards the title. As I progressed through this album, I found myself liking each track more and more. There is a lot of variation while still keeping a very consistent tone throughout. Excellent, high quality submission!
Love the chord progression in "Havet og Marah", very beautiful sounds here. The waltz rhythm in "Rolig sjødans" works really well to drive home the imagery of crossing waves. Nice job changing things up with the unsettling trepidation followed by impending doom in "Det skremmer meg - FLYKTE". Awesome work overall, very well composed!
My dude just drops 20 tracks like it's nbd. Kudos just for that level of commitment in submitting that many completed tracks.
Love the chaos here. Things start off unsettling, then just completely lose control. There is some pretty thick horror ambience here, and there are always just enough things happening to keep things interesting.
The wailing synth in track 3 is great. As for the crackling and popping sounds, I hate them. But in a good way. All you needed was a good "SNAP" in there somewhere and you would have had an entire box of Rice Krispies!
The sound design continues to be unsettling, at times slightly startling, in all the right ways. The panned delay on that rising synth on track 4 is a nice touch.
I'm assuming these battle and boss themes were supposed to be adaptive in nature and transition from the previous track. If not, they both would certainly serve great at that purpose. Love the crunch and straight up gnarliness of the guitars here. For the boss theme, the dissonance between the acoustic guitars and the ... whatever the hell else is going on is very well-crafted. The chords towards the end of this one change things up nicely.
In case you forgot you were in an industrial zone in track 9, Trent Reznor stops by and drops a few drum beats off to remind you.
The second boss theme has a nice steady beat to it that is a welcome change from the unsteady ambience. The sound design continues to be top notch throughout the rest of the soundtrack, with the sudden change up (fake out?) in "False Rest" and subsequent transition into Cat and Mouse being a nice surprise. I assume that Songbird the Crow couldn't fit onto the subway train, or it was just too weirded out by the vocals in track 13 to continue on.
I'm not falling for this again, there's no way there is an actual "Rest Zone" in this game. Yep, there it is.
I feel like this soundtrack is slowly gluing itself together as we get towards the end, with Full Metal Temple having quite a bit of structure compared to many of the previous tracks. The strings in "Green Stage" are a nice surprise, and this soundtrack keeps managing to change things up despite it's length and volume.
Who is the boss of the techno temple? It's techno viking, isn't it?
Things are straight up organized chaos in "Patient Zero. " Along with carrying a much more prevalent and forward melody in some sections, it also seems to call back to many of the instruments and sounds used previously. The weight and dreadful energy in this track is powerful.
A+ sound design, A+ ambience crafting, A+ horror vibes. Thanks, I hated it. (just kidding, nice job!)
Love the energy in "My Imagination Rules !!, it does a great job of evoking the confidence of the main character that is evident from the title of the song. it definitely has "anime opening" vibes, hehe. The air of uncertainty and trepidation in "Shadow" does a great job of shattering the calm and peacefulness in "A Town of Your Dreams." "Outta My Way !!" is a bop, though I think the lead that starts around 0:53 is a bit loud at parts.
I like how quickly the story goes from "a day in my little imaginary paradise" to "oh look, this guy wants to kill everybody and be god, I should probably do something about that." "THIS IS MY WORLD" is a great climax to the OST. There are moments towards the beginning of "Stay Courageous" where some of the detuning feels like it's laid on a bit heavily, but it dissipates once the song picks up.
Overall a solid OST with tons of energy and personality. Great work!
Love the pickup in Morning Light Through The Bedroom Window after the vocal bit, great energy there. The vocals create some interesting texture in the song as well. Under The Umbrella has lovely instrumentation and I LOVE the way this one progresses! On The Pier Under The Stars just as strong as the rest of the album, and I am impressed how you managed to keep things sounding so varied with a relatively small pool of instruments to choose from. Beautiful OST, great work overall!
High quality from start to finish, with a good amount of variety sprinkled throughout. Not much to say here in critique, this is a very well-thought out, complete soundtrack that touches on a broad range of emotions. "DEEP" is an excellent final boss theme! You are a very talented composer, nice job overall!
Love the atmosphere here; a good amount of variety while keeping a pretty consistent and cohesive sound throughout. I can definitely hear the Celeste influence, hehe. Your trumpet doesn't sound bad at all! I thought the trumpet was going to be a one and done thing for "If I Got A Wish..." oh but how foolish I was. I quickly realized that this whole jam was actually just an excuse for you to live out your DEPRAVED trumpet playing fantasies.
You thought you were being clever by waiting until halfway through the OST to introduce the fabled yellow copper, but I see right through your ruse. Being a talented music theorist and composer just wasn't enough for you, was it? No, after finishing the entire OST for this week-long jam with six days remaining, you longed for more fulfilling ways to express yourself. Searching for other outlets, you quickly succumbed to the brazen boldness of brass, and now you seek to infect countless others with your budding funkiness. I envy that about you, and I'm super happy that you are obviously living your best life.
Nice OST btw
