Description
My main goal in music is to work in a FromSoftware game, so I like my music to feel huge and orchestral. The main idea was to have a boss fight, but as I had more time, I made a track that can work as a introduction to the actual boss, less huge, less percussive and more ambient, while keeping the dark aesthetic.

I got a huge inspiration in monks tantric choirs (like Sekiro actually), but to keep originality I tried using sampling techniques and postprocessing to go for a more phantasmagorical effect. In the boss fight, I had to use a bit different kind of choirs because I dont have a big budget, but I think it sounds very good and epic.

The first track is the main character arriving to the temple, it has a part outside the temple, and a part inside, becoming more ominous and obscure once the player get inside the temple.

The second track is the boss fight, the player fights a swordsman with a black tengu mask. Mid fight, the tengu mask breaks, showing that the swordsman has no face, and, as the battle goes on, the enemy turns black and screams as a beast, showing its true nature.

The concept is to have an evolving fight, with music that changes with it, and becomes louder and darker.

About the art, the inspiration (and the original work) comes from Francisco Goya (he has been dead for 200 years so no copyright), and his collection "Los desastres de la guerra", in english it would be something like "Disasters of war".

Message from the artist
I don't have a grat budget for some things, but I hope you enjoy the tracks:))
Also, I prefer having 2 well mixed semi profesional tracks than having a lot of them, I couldn't make a huge album, but I hope it is fun for you!

Theme

Inside my world

How does it fit the theme?
I liked the artwork of the jam a lot but I didn't really felt represented by bubbles and colors. I saw a Goya´s exposition a few weeks ago and I really like the fine line style of his penciul works because it seemed ver chaotic and foggy to me. This sense of fug and numbness remembers me of a bad part of my life where I felt like I could see nothing out of a huge dark cloud, and I think, even tho I'm in a very happy moment of my life, it is a very accurate view on the emotional fatigue, depression and pain I had.
Fighting these demons (as on FromSoftware games) is what I like to do, so I think my world is very related to fighting epic monsters.

Can’t say that I hear the FromSoftware connection, since I feel the sounds of those games are mostly frantic and very bombastic with many cluster chords. However, I feel like it could be part of some Lovecraftian story driven game.

Resolution – Very menacing and dark, I quite like it. The solo cello feels somewhat isolated in that thick dark ambience (in a very good way) and then the gloomy chanting, Pure bliss.

The Blade of the red mood – I feel the song could use even more dark energy, while still being solid by itself. I think adding some additional low woodwind like bass clarinet und contrabassoon could add a raspy and haunting Atmosphere. Also the low end sound somewhat thin to me and could use some additional boost, especially for the double bass. Maybe also adding some low brass like Tuba, for a more rounded bottom end, could do the trick.

Nonetheless solid entry.

Lowkey loved this submission. The ominous chanting, the brass, the murky soundscapes felt sufficiently creepy and atmospheric. It is not unlike the works supporting Fromsoft games, so you´re true to your influences, but beyond that, I feel there is a lovecraftian quality to the OST, hinting at greater horrors than are even in the sound.

I loved the heavy brass it was a really cool vibe! Also the cool jingling in the blade of the red moon!

Big boss theme fan here and yep, this passes the vibe check ^^ really unique, and epic for sure! Fits the tone, and I can see myself fighting the boss already. For the second track, maybe trying a varying section with more rhythm could be cool, especially over the awesome heavy/scary tone you've established, but the progression is so good as is. Nice work!

This was very cool! Felt epic and foreboding so I think you nailed it there. The sound selection was really cool too so great work on these tracks! : D

The music is scary :(

But seriously, this submission was very cool. Made a lot of sense when you said you wanted to work on a FromSoftware game lol. Great work!

Pretty hard to get there but at least I enjoy the proccess!

Wow, that first track is savage! I love those gravely whispering voices. Chills when the drums come in. Had to listen to this again. Even better at high volume, so maybe you could use this to make the dynamic buildup more pronounced, would give me a real jump scare.

Also neat job with the second one. Same unsettling vibe, and very cinematic. Love the buildup at 1:50. What orchestral library is this? Very effective!

Developer

There are some flaws in the mix and master jajaja, and I dont really like the final drums now, I think it could be better.

The libraries I use are Albion ONE by spitfire and Musio One (bought version), i think the actual libraries are cinestrings, cinebrass, voxos and nordic man chorus. The chorus is great because it has a lot of syllabus!
