Description
The genre of the piece is orchestral and I wrote the piece as if it is a JRPG. One version is orchestral, and the other music box. I mainly use LogicPro X as my DAW, and all the sounds, except for the piano, comes from the LogicPro's library. I started with the melody made on the music box version, and tried making a full orchestral version off of it.
Message from the artist
Hello, first time entering this Jam session. Glad to be a part of it. I started a day late for this, and also have work on Sunday so I only had about 12 hours to make progress. Really wanted to make a battle theme too, but I guess I'll do that on the side.
Thank you for the opening this OST Composition Jam. I've not been making any game sound track for a while, and it was a really good practice for me. Got to get back into it!
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
I chose both the text and the picture for my inspiration. The picture reminded me of a setting where some older generations are passing down the folklore about the village's legendary guardian during the olden times to the new generation. I tried to encapsulate the feeling when the story is being told by the elders and the children imagining it in their heads. And, when they go to sleep, the gamers will hear the music box version of it or when it is a reminiscing scene.

Very nice theme, music box arrange is beautiful.
The music box version is so cute!
such beautiful composition, you can tell you started with the music box cause it sounds so perfect for it but even the fuller orchestral version sounded so pretty and well arranged
impressive work, especially on such a short time
The composition is outstanding! I had a little trip while hearing your tracks. Thank you and congratulations!!
I really liked the unexpected flat 6 usage. Added a lot of emotion. Then I like how the track(s) moves into a minor tonality towards the end (bVI-bVII-v-i is so effective for this theme, I used it too). Great work!
Thank you! I really tried utilizing a lot of chords with the flat 6 in it on this piece such V+/vi (E Augmented), bII (Db Major), and bvii7 (Bbmin7). It was fun doing it haha
Such a poignant and emotional piece, I love it. I especially loved the build-up starting at 55 seconds, I think that was really well done.
Thank you very much. I've been lacking practice on orchestral build up, so it feels really good for people to notice it!
Good grief, The tale of the white dragon is so beautiful. Love the chord progressions. Also that was some expert level utilization of the orchestra! I'm in love.
Aww thank you. Really tried my best to use some new chord progression this time.
Beautiful composition. I love your piano writing. great work!
Thank you so much for listening!
When the low brass came in near the end in the left ear it was a little jarring at first but it was definitely my favorite part
Thank you. Yeah, I honestly should've put the bass trombone more in the middle of the mix, but I forgot to put it back in and just uploaded haha;;; But glad you enjoyed it!
What an amazing melody, being able to turn it from a music box lullaby into a grand orchestral piece. Amazing job!
Thank you so much. It was definitely a good practice trying to make it in to an orchestral piece!
Nice. I really liked the music box version.
Thanks! I also like the music box version too myself haha
Awesome work!! So glad you were able to join in on this!
Hey man, I'm glad I could join in!
