Description
The game ,,Nowhere'' is a horror, survival and open world game in a midevil style where you have to survive in the cold by looking for shelter and hiding from big scary creatures that seem to have taken over this world that was once so full of life.

I really tried to show this huge, beautiful and cold world to the listener by going a more sound designy sort of thing and I also limited my instruments to strings because they sound more cold and scary. SONAR Cakewalk was my go to here. There is also a lot of Spitfire Audios LABS in there except the solo violin and harp which are from Audio Imperias Nucleus.

Artist comment:
After waking up on the ground in the middle of snow storm you find yourself in a huge, post apocalyptic world where it never stops to snow. And if it does... you know that you are in danger...

Theme:

Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
I went for a winter theme and tried to show the listener huge snow storms and big empty forests by also adding some wind howling and sounddesign elements.

I appreciate the "sound designy" approach you took -- has a very cinematic feel to it and you captured the unease of being in an overbearing environment. I think it was a pretty bold choice to go fairly minimalist and piano-driven, as well, but it just adds to that sense of isolation. Really like the End Credits track -- has a slight resemblance to some Silent Hill kind of stuff, although a different vibe. Great work!

This is so atmospheric! I really like that it's full on horror, which is something I haven't seen all that much of in this jam. I really like the main theme, and in my opinion the balance between wind and music is very fitting and well done. The different style in the credits makes me want to hear what a full soundtrack would sound like, and see the story concept fleshed out!

Thank you so much! It's so nice to see that you had a good listening experience!

Great cohesion in the soundtracks with that constant wind in the background. Feels cold! I really like the ending credits theme. Good job on creating a good mix between ambient and melodic sound.

Really well done ambience/vibe! I am curious to hear what the main theme would sound like with some of the piano notes in a lower octave, and having a bit less wind noise.

100% can see this game in my head as I listen, good work!

Developer

Thanks! I'm maybe gonna do a solo version with just the piano and a bit more polishing.

First off, the theme is on point, really. Very atmospheric, with "Where am I" really kicking in perfectly, and the audio quality is amazing.

One thing I noticed tho, is that in "Where am I", the left channel felt slightly louder than the right one to me.

Also, in the Main Theme, the high notes in the piano feel very "over the top" and overrunning the rest. Maybe switching these notes out with another instrument could make a difference.

I liked the wind instrument in the Main Theme at the beginning, it sounds very mysterious and kind of scary. Love it.

The wind sounds and the small wood-cracks in the background were also pretty sweet.

I really liked that harp in the Ending Theme, felt like I was arriving at my home village or something, just returning to a safe, familiar place. Absolutely liked that.

Overall, really nice soundtrack. Well done! Your work is appreciated!
