Scale: G Minor Harmonic
So what i imagine was a game character who is a planet explorer. Freak accident happens and he finds himself crashlanded into a desert planet. As he comes to, he notices megalithic futuristic structures from a distance.
Unknown as to what perils awaits him and a dangerous planetary duststorm approaching fast behind, he must seek shelter and uncover the mysteries of the planet if he is to have any chance in getting back to space.

Artist comment:
Hi, Im Basthovian. Just chilling around. :D

Theme:

Two Worlds

How does it fit the theme?
The aural image of a barren desert. Scarce, plain, vast.
In contrast to the urban reaches of futuristic architecture. Detailed, Precise, Structured.
Two worlds as they are!

I also agree with the other comments. The vocals sounded really cool and brought that track to life. I could feel the desert sand listening to this track, good job!

I wasn't sure about this one in the beginning -- especially the lead part sounded a bit too harsh for my taste -- but once the vocals set in, this piece really began to shine! Are any of those real recordings or are they synthetic? They sounded top-notch, either way.

Hi LukasWho, Thanks for the comment.

Haha yes i have to admit i need to improve on my beginnings, since i built up mainly the middle and then get lost on how it leads up to that point. All samples used are from VST libraries.

  • Native Instrument's Discovery Series: Middle East
  • Audio Imperia Jaeger/Nucleus
  • Strezov Sampling Rhodope 2
  • Massive X

Great choice of instruments. "Arabic" harmonic scale also conveys a desert feel. I love the choir.  Great atmosphere!

Wow, that's fantastic! The rhythmic drop-off at the beginning totally fooled me, and then got me interested in hearing the rest of it.

What a great track! Really like the arabic aura, and the voices are very well done! (what is the name of this vst?)

Hi SilenceFr, Thanks for commenting. I used Audio Imperia's Jaeger merethe soltvedt & Strezov Sampling's Rhodope 2

Great sound design ! Maybe adding some contrast would have helped make this song even more interesting.

Hi PatteBlanche, Thanks for the comment.

Yep, im gotta wrap my head around more harmonizing then :D

Ooh this is nice, i have a soft spot for anything ethnic. Small note though, I think you're actually using the 5th mode of harmonic minor, (D) Phrygian Dominant, for most of the song (though I do hear G harmonic at points). The notes are the same but the "note of rest" the song is centered on, seems to be D, which makes a different interval structure from harmonic minor. Those vocals are brilliant!

Developer

Hi KaS, thanks for the comment. Its interesting to hear that it can be interpreted to D Phrygian Dominant since i set my DAW to G Minor Harmonic. Am still getting used to understanding the types of scales to improve on composition.
