Electronic music made with Polyend Tracker

Theme:

Two Worlds

How does it fit the theme?
It's two song, they are close enough in structure that you can switch from one to the other seamlessly. They can be used as the soundtrack of two versions of the same world and the player can switch between them at the touch of a button.

Great tracks! Really like the rythmic change in a same song, even if I can't count the 17/8 mentionned. Very interesting!

I can't either, but the machine does. ;)

I always like this sort of dynamic scoring idea where you can seamlessly fade inbetween tracks, and I'm also usually a big fan of odd time signatures. For my personal taste, the songs felt a little too messy rhythmically in the end, though; at least I find it hard to imagine myself focusing on the game while these tracks are running in the background. Maybe they would be better suited as a sort of avant-garde jazz edm fusion art project than a game soundtrack? Correlation to the theme is pretty well executed, though I think the moods of the two pieces could even be a little further apart.

Oh, and also, lovely bird chirps :) Reminded me a little of Banjo Kazooie, which is a soundtrack I enjoy quite a lot.

Developer

I usually remove a lot of things in the polishing phase but didn't have the time : its still messy on many levels. Thanks for your feedback.

Nice, very creative. I'm not sure if it's a tempo change or a 4.5/4 signature :D And your use of the instrument to make it sound like a bird chirps. 5-stars for creativity, definitely! I swear, I must've looked silly smiling whilst listening to "Malter"!

Retlam is, on the other hand, such a contrast, very unsettling. Well done!!

Developer

Thank you for your kind words. I used a 17/8 signature and actual bird samples.

love the slowdown at the end of each bar! gives a unique rhythm.

Developer

Yes, it's a 17 step pattern : it adds a little something at the end of each bar.

The contrast between the pieces really show the theme really well! The pieces both have opposite feelings but similar sounds to give the mirror idea, like in their titles.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot, i'm glad i was able to convey the main idea i wanted to convey.

You followed the theme in an amazing way! And this really sounds like a game OST, i found myself enjoying the second track more, but both are great!

Developer

I would have liked to have more time to put into the polishing of the first song, but it's the game ! Thanks a lot for your comment.

I'm in love with the sounds you are able to make. These are incredible and have their own unique styles! You are very talented!

Developer

Pls stop, i'm blushing...

Malter is very funky and Retlam is very aggressive, overall sounds very nice!

Two themes for two worlds. Just as I imagined!

The melody in Malter is pretty neat. I would have expected to hear some variation of it again in some form in Retlam (maybe mirrored like the name?). Same structure of both pieces was noticeable and creates nice cohesion. I love the part with the bird tweets. Very whacky!
