Message from the artist
This was one of the most difficult things I've ever had to compose. My first ever ost jam, and a palindrome is a pretty hard constraint.

I didn't really have much in mind in terms of influences, but I imagined it as a secret underground lab in a platformer.

I used FPC for my drum sounds, designed the pad synth myself in vital, labs for the keys sound, and played in the bass and guitar parts myself. This song is in 7/4 because I had to make some strange melodic and rhythmic choices due to the palindrome rule, and an odd time signature would compliment that weirdness. The track includes an intro, but after that intro it would loop the main A and B sections in an actual game. Those A and B sections can be listened to in reverse and sound decently similar to their normal versions.

Thank you for listening and reading.

The guitars leading into the chord hits during the percussion section was super nice! I liked how it panned to each ear!

The use of the 7/4 time signature made for a very interesting palindrome rhythm that worked well!

I think sometimes the percussion overpowered the other instruments a tad though.

I love 7/4! Surprisingly very few odd time signatures. Such a rich and nice bass sound with great drum patterns. This is super well made. Awesome job!

The 7/4 decision was a great one, really makes things feel offkilter. Very neat. Feels like the drums needed some humanising to fit that kinda vibe.

The bass and drums are excellent, they remind me of Secret of Mana/Trials of Mana. Nice groove. Love the time sig, a fellow 7/4 enjoyer. Great work!

Accurate cover art for this theme ahahah!

Hooray for interesting time signatures! The bass / keys combo is great too. Fun song!

Loooooved the 7/4 rhythms. Only qualm i have would be that i feel like the snare felt overused? Iunno, that's my take on it i guess, but honestly even with that it's still really good imo, definitely would put in one of my playlists since i really love funky instrumentals.

I completely agree with the snare bit. Honestly, if I had to remake this track I'd probably get a different snare sound to begin with. I plan on getting some more drum samples so my stuff soujds a little cleaner, the stock snares on fl studio suck. In terms of their frequency, I was trying to make it a rhythmic palendrome as well so there wasnt much i could do about it. Same with the kicks, but obviously they are less prominent. Glad you enjoyed!

Thank you! I am a bass player so hearing that my lines sound nice is always a huge compliment 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I'm surprised this is the first odd time signature song I've seen in the jam, makes it really stand out.
