Message from the artist
This track plays at the crucial moment when all hope seems lost when our protagonist witnesses a tragic massacre. In a desperate attempt to save the people he cares about, our protagonist smashes a strange clock and finds himself moving across time, allowing him to change the outcome of the present. Will our protagonist be able to save the people he cares about and get his revenge?

When composing this track, I was inspired by fantasy games like The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword and Xenoblade Chronicles, and my inspiration mainly came from the use of Zelda's Lullaby's reversed melody in the main theme of Skyward Sword. The synth parts on the other hand were more inspired by the Mechonis Field theme from Xenoblade.

I've used synths, orchestral elements, and electric guitar to make a blend of genres.

Gotta second the Megaten comparison here, sounds straight from a game in that franchise (Secret SMT VI teaser? lmao.) Absolutely love this track, one of my favorites so far!

Developer(+1)

Haha, you're too kind! I'm super flattered, It makes me really happy to be compared to such a godly game franchise.

I think it’s one of the best I’ve heard in recent days! Great submission🫡

Developer

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.

Wow! The reversed part (first half) sounds so good! And then the second half comes in a reveals the actual melody and it just sounds awesome! Reminds me of SMT tracks. Great job!

Developer

Ayy, you're a real one for that. I absolutely love SMT, thank you so much!

Developer

May I ask which SMT in particular?

Submitted(+1)

This track in particular reminds me a bit of SMT Raidou. But I think it's just the style, in general, that reminds me of SMT, with lead guitars, some cool chord progressions and a darkish tone but with some sense of hope.

Developer(+1)

Daaamn that's so nice to hear. Raidou definitely has to be my favorite SMT ost alongside Digital Devil Saga, Shock! The Final Battle and Formidable Foe go hard. Since I'm kinda new to the guitar I actually used some Raidou songs to practice haha!

So many elements come together nicely. I love the e guitar. first half sounds backward to me and second half forward, unexpected. Nice touch too with the ticking clock. Fits your story really well. Great work!

Developer

Thank you, I really wanted to make a track that had a lot going on since the thought of a palindrome made me think of some intense RPG with time-reversal elements, so I'm glad you find it thematically appropriate. The guitars in the beginning make it kind of obvious that it's reversed. What I also found was most orchestral instruments like strings and flutes sounded pretty much the same reversed so I decided to use those in the later parts, so I think it worked out in the end!

Really solid track, lots of nice dynamics on display here.

Developer

Thank you so much! I came up with separate parts that I thought sounded cool (crescendo part, organ part, and electric guitar part) and decided to stitch them together afterward with various transition parts, glad you like it!

Submitted(+1)

Those are some top tier inspirations!

the reversed audio was very well done and the spooky vibe was excellent with the organ and guitar!

The drop for the bell chime into the crescendo of everything was such a great moment and this entry as a whole was very excellent!

Developer

Thank you! The sudden explosion was super fun to make so I'm happy to hear that! The organs are supposed to sound more ominous rather than spooky with some religious undertones as in true Xenoblade fashion. I'm glad you find it excellent!

I don't know what I could add that the comments below haven't said already.
It is such a good track, congratulation!

Developer

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your positivity!

Incredible bro, the best so far !

Developer

Thanks a lot man!

I really like how it shifts to a more "resolute" feel when the reverse happens. i also love the xenoblade inspirations

Developer

I'm glad you find the reverse satisfying, it's always nice to see another Xenoblade enjoyer!

Submitted(+1)

Nice track, I like all the dynamics you use, not too repetitive, enjoyed this one. good job.

Developer

Thanks for enjoying it!

Submitted(+1)

this is amazing! love the guitars all over this!

Developer

Thanks! I thought the guitars would set it apart from the other tracks.

Submitted(+1)

Oh I like it a lot! Especially the dynamic changes with the "metal" sections, and the pipe organ sections. Really well done, never boring - great arrangement. I love the sudden silence in the middle.

Developer

Thank you for finding it dynamic!

Submitted(+1)

Wow this is very cool. You hid the "reverse" very well, it sounds so natural. Great guitars. Amazing work!

Developer

Thank you! I tried my best to do a seamless reverse, glad you liked the guitars!

just incredibly sick

Developer

Glad you like it!

Your track is absolutely giving Xenoblade. Fantastic Work!

Developer(+1)

You can't understand how happy that makes me to hear. It's one of my biggest inspirations!

Submitted(+1)

Great track and full mix! loved the mix of rock organ and guitar and works great at the hardest difficulty of the challenge, well done!

Developer

Thanks for enjoying and listening! I'm new to recording live guitars so I'm happy to hear you enjoy it!

Awesome track with loads of great variety !

Really loved the mix of instruments, brings a lot of personality to the track (the pinch harmonics are very pleasant, always a pleasure to hear when used tastefully like this).
The reversed parts are also really interesting, I was wondering if the track was also reversed strictly from the center and then I saw the Soundcloud waveform which seemed convincing enough to me.

Overall very great job, so congrats !
Developer(+1)

I'm glad you liked the blend of instruments. I just threw in any instrument that came to mind and somehow connected the different sections together. The squeals were added to hide my lousy guitar playing, lol, but it sounded super cool in reverse. You can see the reversed audio in my screenshots as well. Thanks for listening and liking it!

Submitted(+1)

Everything intertwined comes together to make a really awesome track. Spiralling through time.

The guitar elements remind me of the Risk of Rain 2 soundtrack - those long squeals sound rad.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, that's really nice to hear. The Risk of Rain 2 soundtrack is certainly an inspiration to me, glad you liked the squeals!

Submitted(+1)

Yea this is awesome! I’m not even sure how you did this haha, there are so many elements working backwards and forwards and they never get heavily in the way of each other. the build up into the mid section and that absolute wall of sound into the second half. so cool! I feel like if you weren’t told, plenty of people wouldn’t know about the reverse element and would be blown away if they heard it in reverse.

Developer

Thank you so much! I did some sneaky things like mirroring the midi and then reversing its audio and layering it with the regular midi so that it sounds the same both forwards and backwards, so thanks for noticing! The build up was definitely really fun to make.

Definitely one of my favorite submissions. It's almost giving off Undertale vibes.👍

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! It's not the first time someone compared my songs to Undertale haha.
