Explain your hypothetical game concept & how you interpreted the theme!
March 5, 1939, somewhere over the Atlantic. Hundreds of giant machines of war made of wood, brass, rope and cloth hover between the shimmering water and the cloudless sky. A clear line is drawn, delineating the airships to the east and the west. Everything goes quiet for a second, only the waves below breaking the silence; then suddenly, the sound cannon fire and turret shells ringing out from all corners. Splintered wood, torn cloth and pierced brass tubing appear from clouds of smoke, falling and disappearing into the depths of the Atlantic to never be seen again. War has begun...

This is a track I made for the OST Minigame Jam 2 composing competition. I envision it to be the main title theme for a RTS game about Steampunk zeppelins and airships fighting over the Atlantic.

What genre is your soundtrack?
Orchestral Rock

What was your ensemble?
Horns in F, Violins 1, Cellos, Drumset, Violins 2, Tenor Trombones

Anything else you'd like to add?
I might have misunderstood the brief but I have used the ensemble version of the orchestral instruments rather than soloists. Also, I went slightly over-budget but adding in the Tenor Trombones and by using the Violins 1 twice (Tremolo and Spiccato) at the same time.

This triggers my fight or flight response. This piece really suits the picture you painted with your concept.

Loved the Drums here! I’ve never heard Orchestral Rock before, so this was a new listen for me! Nice work!

Thank you very much for listening!

I really love the sound of those drum hits! The drum hits really sound like bombs being dropped in the sea and various other types of artillery firing. I super love the energy that the compressor pumping gives the drums! Very whooshy and very on theme

Great action in this one and I like how your narrative is mirrored by the music (things going quiet before the cannons fire). I agree with the comment below that the drums smack a little hard, especially at around 1:08 - perhaps the contrast you created there (the calm moment before the storm) could have been even greater if they were more quiet.

You're absolutely right. I was contemplating on whether or not I should duck everything out for a beat or two before the cymbals come in but decided against it at in the end. I'll be sure to fix it after the voting period ends. Thank you for you helpful critique and thank you for listening!

Nice track, very original and surprising, really can feel the "war" feeling ! Drums are nicely done, but maybe a bit loud for my taste, but it sure gives this track a lot of punch ! Well done !
