Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes
Summarise your game!
Switchblade is a challenging platformer with a somewhat atypical movement system. You explore a large map and unlock of variety of weapons. You might find it a bit difficult to reach the end!
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You literally play as a bunch of different weapons!
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
It'd be great to know if the levels feel relatively balanced in terms of linearly increasing difficulty. Our limited playtesting showed that the difficulty spiked pretty harshly in previous builds, so we've done a lot of work to try to even out how hard each section is compared to the last. It's not perfect, but the more we can learn from other peoples' experiences, the more we'll know for the future.

It's really well made, one of the best entries i've played so far. I didn't manage to go very far but I will try to come back to it and edit this post to show my time.
I actually managed to finish the game. God knows the rage didn't get the better of me this time! I loved the art style, the transition animations and the increasing power of each one of the weapons. My time was 35 minutes, but I'm guessing soon the speedrunners are going to eat me alive. I actually see this game being one of the contenders for the winner, so congratulations!!! 10/10
Great art direction. The gameplay is enjoyable but obviously very rage inducing. Im not a big fan of foddian games but I think you nailed it. Good work!
i'm gonna gush about this one, it hit the right spot for me
for context, i used to speedrun GOI so i have a good feeling for how these kind of games work. i love what you did with this. the sword is obviously very reminiscent of the hammer, so that was very easy to pick up. there was a silly bug(?) where i had infinite boosts out of the hole, but i'm guessing that was intentional because it felt kinda impossible otherwise. and then i was a gun and everything changed. this game has so much meta play hidden in it for fun speedrunning with how you can switch between the modes midair and chaining them together. i would've ended up spending another half an hour on this if it weren't for wanting to look at other submissions. and also the cloud section got a little confusing so that made me call it as well.
i really don't have any issues with this game that i can think of other than lack of nice sfx for the different modes, for buttons etc. i love this game enough to buy it if it became a finished product that i can master and speedrun. huge congrats from me for getting this done for the jam
The art style is really really good on this one. It took me a little bit to figure out how to get moving and then didn't take me very long to realize that I'm not very good at it (haha). I'd love to see more if my skills didn't keep me from seeing more of it.
EDIT: Finally made it past the first hill and acquired the blade! I'm now feeling very proud with a sense of accomplishment.
I LOVE the art, and I love the concept, and I think it's a testament to good game design that I was filled with rage the entire time and still felt like I had a good time when I quit playing. Great work!
A very unique and difficult platformer that utilizes each weapon very well. The use of every section and backtracking is cool. the fact that no weapon gets left out even at the end is impressive. Each weapon's introduction keeps the game new and fresh throughout.
Very nice! unique idea and feels nice to progess but doesnt make the weapons from the beginning obsolete and encourages swapping and spending bullets wisely. amazing!
Very nice! Didn't play too much but still pretty fun and I really like the game feel.
Very cool submission! I played up until the part where I had to use 3 weapons to reach the clouds. The game feels very responsive, well made! The level design is good, I understood where I had to go most of the time (had to search for a minute to find the red section with the sniper).
Other than that I have 2 pieces of feedback:
Good job! Be proud :)
