- Works well with interesting environments and jumping puzzles. I do like the addition of saving your friends by hunting down ingredients. Brings an interesting mechanic to a familiar game type. Does not quite meet the *shadow* theme as much however. Overall, solid game.

Just wanted to say thanks - I've always wanted to make a game and this gave me the push to actually go and make one! It's been a journey (I did one tutorial a few weeks before doing this) but I've loved it.

This game is great! I really like the art style and the music is really cool. There were a few things that could be made more clear: which item would be destroyed if dropped, and the poison water timer? I'm assuming it's a timer anyways. I was scared to jump in at first, but then I didn't die, but then I did. Assuming that was it.
Other than that, great showing, very fun!
To start off, I really like the pixel work done here. The different character and potion designs, and the animations too! The parallax effect also adds a lot of depth to the scenery and makes it much more dynamic.
I also liked the recipe book and the names of the different potions, it's funny. The character controls really well and I liked the fact that the player has some level of control on how high they can jump.
A couple of things I noticed on the levels:
On stage 2, you can actually go on the top of the cliff in the right side, but there's no way to get back up. I can only go out of bounds. I thought you had hidden one of the ingredients inside of the cliff, since there's a tiny corridor there.
I like how the banana in the 2nd stage was designed so that you could fetch it and fall directly onto the cauldron. It was smart level design.
I wish in the 4th stage there was an indication of the character taking damage by staying too long in the poisoned water. I walked in it a lot because I thought it didn't do anything.
Speaking of poisoned water, the one below the pig seems to have some odd collision detection, as sometimes, under the platforms, the character couldn't walk through, so I would jump over the odd collision.
I'm not sure if this is intentional, but if I press the jump button really fast, the character does a semi double jump. It's not game breaking or anything, just thought maybe you'd wanna know.
This game is really nice though. The music is really good, very pleasant to listen to and fits the vibe of each level, and another thing I liked was the tutorial, which made things very clear from the start. There weren't any game breaking glitches and, as stated earlier, the character controls well and is fun to play.
This is a pretty good game. I liked playing it!
A very cute and charming little platform game.
I wasn't a fan of the only being able to carry 1 item and having a dedicated drop button. I randomly "dropped" aka destroyed items more than once rather than put it in the cauldron which is kinda annoying.
Considering your a solo dev who learned how to do all of this in such a short time that's amazing. I could NOT do that. You should be proud of your accomplishment!
Really cute game and music fits to it. I also liked the level designs because you have to collect different ingredients and play different short platforming sequences. Difficulty and pacing is well made too, good job!
Cute game! I like it! The music is well done, the jump sound effect could be tuned down a bit. Well done, you should be proud! :)
Thanks for playing :) I'll add that to the list thanks!
The level design and pacing of the mechanics is really well done. Each idea is simple but gets combined in new challenging ways. The art and the music is well done and fits with the style of the game nicely. Having to place ingredients in order adds a nice challenge and changes the game from simply exploring to searching for specific ingredients. Adding popups to interactable elements like ingredients, cauldrons, and NPCs would improve the gameplay experience. Tweaking the physics of the player controller like reducing the time it takes to slow to a stop could improve the game too (depending on whether you are going for a cozier or challenging game ). All in all, this is a major achievement for someone who only just started making games a few weeks ago. Very well done.
Sick game for a first attempt! Especially like the chase on level 5
Really liked the level design, level 5 was very fun!
Level design is great. Really fun to play!
A really nice and cute(-ish) game :) Especially for the fact that you started developing only a few weeks back its great progress. Love to see you implemented level timer feature. We wanted to do it as well but didn't have time 😅Great job on the game.
Thanks for the comment, I'll hope on the computer and give your game a play!
