  • Excellent GDD. I love the fact that you're deliberately thinking about players that need to hold a baby at the same time - and how that influences everything else about the player experience. Playing the game... even the MENU is shrouded in shadow! Nice touch. It was very confusing at first how to actually play. I didn't realise you could click on a star and then 'Travel' to it. And I think I somehow deleted the items in the left-hand box :) In fight mode, the "Pew Pew!" guns are cute XD This game has some character, and the FTL (Faster Than Light) inspiration is very clear. Well done so far. You have a solid foundation here.

Did you include your Game Design Document as a Google Drive link?
Yes

Seriously... did you include your Game Design Document?
Yes, as a Google Doc

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
Save the Human Race! and the rest of the galaxy too i guess, well as much as you can save...
Mouse Controls, Space Exploration, Resource Management, First Game Made, Too much to really say besides thank you Thor for the inspiration and the opportunity

Extra Notes
make sure you click an adjacent star (to your current star) you want to travel to before attempting a transwarp jump. no one wants any starfleet beagles to disappear...
We unfortunately ran out of time to implement Alchemy or the stars going out but we have a general outline for what we wish to pursue going forward!

This game clearly has the potential to get really in depth. I can tell your team worked well together. The art is cute, I love the stars in the bg, and the atmosphere is really enhanced by the music you chose. I hope you'll all continue working on this, even after the jam ends.

Thank you! It will certainly be worked on more by all of us, we are really excited to see this through to release on steam.
But first, many bugs must be squashed, a proper tutorial made and the rest of the planned content must be added

Really loving the FTL influences here. I think the battles are bit too slow, but this game has potential! Good job! keep making games!

Developer

Your feedback is appreciated! and FTL is specifically listed as a source of inspiration for that reason, ahaha

This game has a nice feel to it! I keep having to abandon ship, but I'm getting the hang of things. I wasn't sure what to do with ship battles at first. Keep up the good work!

Developer

oh no! better luck next time
we also want to make it more clear what youre supposed to do (or not do) in future updates

really like the writing here. you should expand this!

Developer

i will pass that on to our lead story writer, thank you!

I liked the UI design it was simple but not cluttered. Unfortunately, I couldn't get my ship to move and I wasn't 100% clear on what I had to do, even though I had instructions from the TC.

Developer (1 edit)

sorry we werent entirely clear about what needs to happen to travel, it is one of those little things you miss when you design the game from the ground, you just instinctively know what to do

thank you for the feedback!

Developer

The intended way is to click an adjacent star and then click the travel button. Though I also wouldn't be surprised if there was some undiscovered bug preventing that.

And to be fair, there isn't much to do. We might have been a bit over ambitious for our first game for the game jam XD But we do plan to continue with it and get it properly finished at some point.

this isnt very related but i have no idea how else to contact you
do you plan on coming back to flight rising?

Developer

I have no plans at this time to do so. Can't say I expected such a question here XD

yeah lol :p do you think i could have sedona? the boggy
