  • This is a great example of the puzzle type game. The gameplay is simple but does take time to learn and figure out. I liked the color scheme, nothing to bright and flashy, really helps you hone in on the gameplay instead of the looks. It would have been nice if there was some type of background music. I was not able to get very far sense I am not good at these types of games, but for the ones I did, they were very well done, I had to really think about them.

Summarise your game!
Bash is a puzzle game where you control a sentient cube. With no hands or guns, you have to use your own body to bash the machine incursion back to where it came from!

Movement = Arrow Keys or WASD
Restart level = R or ESC

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You control a sentient cube
The cube bashes itself against robots
You are the weapon

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?

This game was a lot of fun! The sounds are really satisfying, the screenshake is a great touch, and your addition of an input buffer did not go unnoticed. I completed every level (bonus level took me a bit), and didn’t feel like any of them got too hard. They do ramp up a bit quickly, but I think that’s fine for a jam where you want to show off your game’s potential as much as possible.

Thanks! Glad to know someone finished the bonus level >.<

Spent a good couple of hours trying to make the movement feel good

Very polished experience - satisfying puzzles bringing you back to the rock rolling parts of the pokemon games on gameboy

Wish there was a level counter though so I had an idea about how far I got

Good job on the juice of the game especially, makes it very satisfying to play!

Difficulty curve might be a bit too steep, but I think that's something very hard to perfect during a 2 week game jam anyways so I wouldn't worry too much. Great job overall!

The puzzle is fun! I like it! Sound effects, controls, and design are all good
Got stuck on this level

Thanks for the feedback! Difficulty progression was something I struggled with.. Didn’t have time to implement a hint system, but do you think something like “← ↑ → ↑ ←” would’ve been a helpful hint? (The first couple of movements)

Or maybe something more along the lines of the image below?

The sounds make this so satisfying. Really fun and feels like a full realization of an idea. Great job!

First thought - These sound effects are 10/10.

The little screen shake and particles on impact are a great touch too. The overall game feel feels super polished and juicy.

I love this take on classic ice tile puzzles. The way you can manipulate other dudes is a really great spin on things. I love how you can use corpses as a resource, so even once you've killed a dude, they may still have a role to play in the puzzle.

Well done!
