- GDD Great GDD, The team described well their ideas and goals, and I especially enjoyed the art section, with the sprites used and a high-quality image of the very cool hero. Oh, there's also a picture of some lucky peasant or something. Somebody has to clean the sword later, I guess. Gameplay I can see the inspiration, but it's a different take that I never experienced before. While the other games give you a lot of freedom on where to go and an auto attack, there you are literally the auto attack, while the little fleshbag runs to the right, trying to get to safety. The balance between attacking and defending is very well done. I saw myself killing melee orcs while a massive amount of ranged accumulated at the edge of the screen until I managed to get enough breathing room to slaughter them. The transition between sword and shield is seamless, and I especially appreciate that the game remembers the commands given before the switch. Art Very cool art style; a lot of work was done on the demon weapons. I especially appreciate the little details like the sword afterimages to give that speed feel and the shield pulsing when it blocks an arrow, as well as the arrow breaking when blocked. The enemy exploding in a pile of gore was satisfying. Every attack and block felt hefty because of those little changes in animation. I felt like a totally not even demonic weapon. Also, the fleshbag freeing the demon because he tripped on the stones made me chuckle. Later on, adding a few animations to the orcs and the NPC and some variety to the forest is an easy way to expand the idea. Sound Design Very enjoyable BGM, with a loop that does not grow old. It meshes well the serenity of a forest with the fact that a lot of orcs are quite hungry, but not as hungry as the demonic arms. The SFX really drives home the feeling of hitting and defending. It was satisfying. Last thoughts What a neat take on the classic gameplay loop in the survivor genre. The game felt really well made. Great job, team.

Guardian Demon is an endless runner bullet hell-style game

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
In Guardian Demon, you play as a demon who can shapeshift into different weapons of offensive and defensive capabilities. You are the weapon that protects the peasant from the wave of orcs flooding from the forest.

Nice concept. I like the sword attack, but I think the shield could be on when RMB down and un-shield when up, this should feel more responsive. When you manage to chain multiple enemies, it reminds me the arrow weapon of Yondu in guardians of the galaxy.
Yes!!! That was my exact idea!!!
Pretty cool concept. The game might benefit allowing the sword to just go wherever the mouse clicks rather than only if an enemy is clicked on. Then you can have happy accidents. Game feel needs some work too, so it feels a little more impactful, but a great start.
Thanks for the feedback, the sword movement idea is a good one.
Pretty cool game! It got tense fast, but it's pretty fun scrambling to take out those orcs. I encountered a bug in which the screen was permanently tinted red, and I couldn't shield. I'm not sure how that happened, but it wasn't too big of a deal to refresh the page to fix it
Yeah, not sure why the screen got tinted red but the issue where you lose the ability to shield is one we're aware of but haven't been able to figure out its cause just yet, hopefully we can fix the issue when we decide to continue developing this game after the jam!
Nice job! The shield mechanic wasn't my favorite because it's just a little clunky to switch between sword and sheild. I want to always be attacking, that's the fun part! Maybe have a button that automatically shields you for 1 second and has a short cooldown, so that you can always have your sword out. Good job! Keep making games!
Thanks for the feedback, the shield with a cooldown is a nice idea.
This is a pretty neat concept! I like the sword mechanics a lot. Not sure how I feel about the shield mechanic - it feels that in its current for them best defence is a good offense.
The background art looks particularly great and I like the BGM too!
Does feel like it gets punishingly hard fast, but thats just a balance issue heh.
I enjoyed my time with this game :)
Well done! It feels very satisfying when you become good, like I'm a real warrior inside the game.
Very good interpretation of the theme!
Sadly, the shield ability couldn't really shine in my run, because most of the arrows missed the lost peasant anyway.
