How does your entry fit the theme?
It does not unfortunately LOL I got too caught up working on systems. Maybe its the echoes of my aspirations for the game
What would you like feedback on?
No clue, I guess maybe the camera or the hex grid/pathfinding?
What assets did you use (if any)?
none

Cool and pretty! I liked it
When you extract the game, the files scatter everywhere, it would be better for the files to be inside of a folder.
You should probably add a zoom limit, i can make the map dissapear by zooming to much into the void or zooming out into space. Aside from that the game as a tech demo is pretty solid, so i can't really give that many criticism for things that aren't implemented yet, good luck with your solo game dev journey.
I like that you do something new for yourself on that game jam. The most of other participant doesn't try to learn smth new during jam. I remember when i tried to implement pathfinding in hexogonal field year ago. It blewed my mind when i knew that i can use A* algortihm for pathfinding in hex field. Hope you had similar feeleing.
This is a super well polished but yeah it's kinda a tech demo atm, good work on it though pathfinding is super hard!
Thank you! Yeah pathfinding was a bit of a headache lol. I do plan on making this more than just a tech demo in the future though!
Cool mechanics of finding a shortcut with cells, too bad there is no gameplay
As a programmer myself, good work on those systems in such short time. I liked a lot the fact that this came out bugfree. It represents a solid base for a bigger and more complex system.
Thank you, it essentially took the whole jam lol! The state that its in does seem to not have any major bugs, however as I started a feature branch to convert the tech demo into a turn based strategy, I could start to see that a bit of code would need reworking to refit my needs :) still a fun game jam though. I definitely am looking into using it as part of a bigger and more complex system.
I know this was unfortunately incomplete, but what you did have I was quite surprised with. The controls were very intuitive, the navigation of a grid was really well done. I especially love the trail it shows the player.
It is a pity there wasnt more to the game to go with the mechanics, I feel like it would have been something I would have really enjoyed. :)
Thank you Alex! Yeah I bit off more than I can chew, but I sort of came into the jam expecting to fail the jam but learn a lot since I was solo dev'ing for the first time, so I am not disappointed by my results! I am very much looking into making mechanics for the game :)
Well, it's definitely a tech demo, but a fun one at that! It reminds me of those old PS1 discs that had game jam demos on them (I can't recall the name, but you get the idea). This demo shows a good basis for a game, and I enjoyed playing around with the camera. The movement of the little bean character is also quite enjoyable. (moving on the ground ^^)
I can see that you've put a lot of care into this tech demo. It's surprisingly polished, considering its nature. I can only imagine what you had planned for the game jam, but it's clear that time constraints got the best of you (don't worry, it happens to the best of us!)
I must say that I love the system you've implemented. However, I can't rate it too high because, as a game jam entry, it falls short in terms of incorporating the theme of echoes. If I were solely basing my rating on tech demos, it would be quite high. But since it's a game jam entry, I have to be critical.
Nonetheless, I hope that what you have here can serve as a solid foundation for a great game in the future. With some further development, this could turn into something really special! Best of luck and wishes in the future!
Thank you for the feedback, Christoff! I like to hear that even with the content of the game lacking, it was still interesting to play around with! No worries about low rating the game lol, I already knew it wasn't going to do well in rating, but I plan on working on it more to make it fit the theme more in the future when the PJP discord does the follow-up jam!
awesome! same here im hyped to fix up all the bugs I got! and im excited to see what you'll do ^^
