Such nicely put together game! I think the gameplay has a lot of potential, but I got to admit I got stuck (like a ...). I got very frustrated actually :( I wish I could undo a single stone or some more leeway to make mistakes and correct. I got into a loop where I figured out the path I want, but it's easy to put a stone a little too high or in the way and - especially is it happens at the beginning - that leads me to instantly restart and keep on building tension and frustration with failing to drop the stone at the right place a little more ahead.
I did like the mechanic very much and it's obviously well put together, so I think with more time to tweak the level design, it'd be a game worth buying.

I found 2 little niggles: 1 where I restarting so furiously that the new level starts with a stone just out the pipe and 2: I think the crank was supposed to show the whole level, but it wasn't working. Nice idea, for discrete crank use, though!

The most polished game I’ve played in this jam so far! I really think you could yeet this on the Catalog and no-one would bat an eye.

The visuals are crisp and the sfx are funny without getting in the way or becoming grating.

That said, while the platforming is smooth and polished, and the basic gameplay quite enjoyable, the way the game is set-up, doing (almost) the exact same thing over and over is a built-in part of the game. (I think most people are OK with that though – I just have a low frustration threshold… it’s why on my own I mostly play puzzle games.)

Another very small thing is that while it’s not too hard to figure out what to do, the image of a square next to the image of a B button didn’t really explain it for me. (Neither would ‘harden/freeze’ have been sufficient, if I had opened the game-page before I played the game.) Then again, figuring that out was a short bit of fun as well, so maybe you intended it that way?

This game was super impressive. I found the platforming to be really fun and overall the levels have some decent difficulty but the concept wasn't too hard to understand. I really could see this turning into a full game and I would be happy to see it as one too because of how impressive I found it. I also liked how this felt different from other games that had the time travel mechanics where your past self does specific things.

Suggestions/criticism
- having a level select would be nice
- having a small tutorial or info screen about what each button does along with how the game works. I didn't fully understand until I started playing that you could turn to stone and would turn to stone when the time ran out.
- level variety, I would love to see more level variety and mechanics. One could be that water doesn't make you jump as easy. Or enemies that are trying to chase after you. pressing down on buttons and holding it after you turn to stone.
- story, I would love to see some story about how you're a sentient block of concrete.

Thank you for suggestions.

I think this idea is good enough to be developed into a complete game, with just some tweaking to the up and down accelerations to make it a hint easier. Great gameplay concept, supported by polished visuals, good job.

BUT WHERE'S THE CRANK???

Developer

Thank you. Crank is used for scroll the camera to view levels. Definitely not the most creative way to use the crank.

I really enjoyed playing this game. An absolute gem!  Get some games in the catalog and I'll buy.

This is AMAZING! WAY TO GOOD TO BE DONE IN A WEEKEND!! I am very impressed and so happy I got to play this game. I love this platform puzzle game. The idea of making your "deaths" into platforms is so creative. And making each run timed gives enough action to make the stakes of messing up so important. I haven't played through entirely, but the base mechanics of this game are just so clever. Very good job! Very smart and interesting use of the prompt!! 🟦

This is really impressive and feels like it has all of the elements of a full game already "set in stone"! Novel puzzle platforming and a great take on the theme. I found the crank to be of limited use and wonder if using it to "rewind" the game would be a fun mechanic for those situations where I was right at the end of a level and then messed up placing a final jump.

Thank you for your feedback.

this was really polished, I’m super impressed

the animations of the blobs and their spawning/transforming was full of character, so was the jumping sound. the background music was pleasant but not intrusive. The gameplay was (mostly) super rewarding.

One thing that bothered me was being forced to completely restart a level if I missed a jump in a later-stage of a level and couldn’t get where I needed to in time. That being said I liked having limited time per blob so I’m not sure what the best way to solve this is…just felt a little punishing to have to start over a few times on the last blob because I made myself a crappy platforming experience lol

Developer

Thank you, calvin. I agree with you, next time I will try make less crappy game :P

This was a great game!  I could see this being a really fun full release if you ever decide to expand on it.  My only criticism is that it feels like the jam's theme was a bit of an afterthought.  While you do have a timer, it feels superfluous, especially when you can turn into a stone on command with "B".  I realize you added the ability to turn at will because the game would be obnoxious otherwise, having to wait for the timer every time you wanted to place a stone, so here's my suggestion if you decide to expand the concept.  I'd remove the B button as a way to turn into stone and add some way for the player to get time back.  Maybe some kind of pickup would increase time remaining, or the timer could pause while you're in water.  Alternatively, as the post jam version wouldn't be confined by the theme anymore you could consider removing the timer entirely.

Either way, what you have here is a really enjoyable game and I only harped on about the timer so much because I have nothing else to give criticism on.  Great job!

Developer

Thank you :) We have many ideas for how the game can be expanded. Unfortunately limiting factor is 72 hours :) I really appreciate your input.
