Title
Chance Enchantment Enhancement Chant

Description
This months composing challenge was to use an irregular time signature.
This song is in 5/4 time and the purple sparks SHOULD coincide with every beat if I timed it properly.

With all the vocal sounds in the song I thought it sounded like a chant or ritual and that's when I came up the the name.

To translate the title, it means that there is an opportunity to perform a ritual through chanting that will improve future enchantments.

Gospel Choir is probably my favorite sound in most music other than mallet instruments so I really wanted to use it as a focal point in a lot of my music. I also experimented with brass since I don't use it very often because I didn't have the best tools for it until now.

Working in 5/4 time was rough and I don't ever want to do it again. It was very difficult to make melodies because I would think of them in my head and they would just become normal time melodies.

The really bombastic part in the middle and at the end were actually the first parts I made. I worked backwards from them since they worked so well as climaxes.

The visuals were very fun to make, especially when I got the idea to make them appear on the celling during the big parts of the song.

The structure of the song is

A, B, C, D, C*

The scale I used was mostly chromatic. The only notes I didn't use were C# and Bb and even then I might have used them and just not remembered. The tonic notes were A and E so that's what I would consider to be where the scales start.

Hope You Enjoy!

Who doesn't love a dramatic choir? It's a great way to build mystery and grandeur, which are the primary feelings I get from the song. Those ascending brass swells give it an extra bump. Good work!

To me, writing in 5/4 is actually very satisfying and I do it a lot - it is my favorite time signature other than 12/8. The division of 5/4 into 3/4 + 2/4 with both 3/4 and 2/4 being split into two notes is very useful and common to me; that works very well. I think you did a great job making 5/4 work, and the result is an easy-to-follow song (the upside of using 5/4 instead of e.g. 7/4 or 11/4 in my opinion)! I love the choir and the entire 'enchantment' vibe of the song, it fits nice with the weird 5/4 song. Well done :D

We had the same idea of animating our music's signatures

The Latin (?) lyrics set the tone. Classically, I would have used organ and horns to accompany. The fact that you put in swell trumpets surprised me, and even pleasantly surprised me!

The impact and the suspended transition at 1'30" are fantastic!

The D part (which is the breathing part) is well placed to kick-start the C* part. I think it would have been good for the construction to have another quieter (and probably shorter) part a little earlier in your music. Personally, I'd have muted the drum between 1'07"-1'14".

I'm taking the liberty of giving my opinion because I think you make great music and I modestly hope to help you become even better.

Thank you for your feedback. I see what you mean about muting the drum at 1:07 that would have been cool. Also, you really have made me improve my music. When I hear your songs I strive to make my music sound as good and as full as yours. I still don't fully understand how you make your music  wrap around my head but I want to be able to get to that point.

Thank you!
