I really love the look and feel of this game, it does make me want to eat ALL the candy! :P I love this concept of having to look after someone's pet and playing around with the pressures of having to looking after it / spoiling it too much / neglecting it. What came to mind was the idea of a tamagotchi-like game, where you have a little creature that you can nourish and grow to make it become this awesome monster thing or, you know... not :P And I think the fact that you can interact with the environment is such a bonus and leaves a lot of potential for little easter eggs / narrative moments :) Well done ya'll! I think this is great!

I enjoyed moving all the furniture around and trashing the place, but I honesty have no idea what I'm supposed to do. Try adding a tutorial or how-to screen to help the player understand what the objective is. The letter in the beginning disappears waaaay to fast. Maybe add a button there for the user to press continue after they read it. Remember, people read at different speeds. A nice backtrack will also give this game a more complete feel.

Well done on the models. It looks great.

We actually didn't want people to know what they are supposed to do. The letter is shown too short on purpose. The idea of the game is to figure out what to feed and not to feed the monster. If we told the player exactly what to do, there would be nothing left to figure out. There isn't much to do as it is...

Thanks for playing and for your kind feedback! 🤩

This was at the very least an interesting art/tech demo. I really also liked the idea of sort of training/interacting with a household pet that has opaque internal logic, kind of like Black and White if Molyneux thought in Tamagotchi scale.

The morphing animations of the character were great. And it was pretty funny that it turned out to be a literal cookie monster.

I'm curious to know whether you'd consider using clayxels for something bigger.

Thanks for the feedback. 🙏

Uhm... I think Clayxels can be used for something bigger. You just need to know it's limitations.

Hi! Just a reminder of this rule: " To be eligible to win any of the prizes, your team has to play and give feedback to five other entries by Monday, 5th October 2020".

So if you haven't done it yet, you still have the rest of this weekend and Monday to give your feedback!

Developer

have done 6 games so far, but will play more this weekend. thanks for the reminder!

I'm the worst house sitter.

I played the optimized version. Unfortunately the letter disappeared very quickly so I didn't get a chance to read what to do.

So instead I tried to imprison the monster in a mountain of furniture and food. Clearly it has been hitting the gym because it broke through my barrier every time.

Despite not playing the game as intended, I can say I like the art style. It's a bit strange how slow the objects fall though. If you upload another build I'll try play the game according to the instructions!

Sorry for imprisoning your monster :(

I honestly couldn't figure out the point of the game since the letter just kept disappearing too quickly. So I just fed it everything in the room that it could eat.

Awesome game! The simplicity made it a lot more enjoyable than i thought. Though there isn't much to do when done.

I see this a lot as a prototype. If you ever come back to this, you could look at maybe adding a form of a story or other items which could add to the monster's appearance. Otherwise a solid effort! You cannot see it but I am giving a thumbs up

Aw man, I thought this looked like such a cool concept, but not much to this I'm afraid. Feels more like a toy than a completed game...

I really like games that are a different from the status quo, and I think this would fit in that category nicely. Just not sure how I would improve upon what was already attempted here.

Perhaps if the player had a character in the room and they had to evade the monster when it got unruly? That could be fun.

This looks so good, it's practically edible!

It's pretty satisfying to have the moster chomp something and see it how it reacts. Definitely got me wanting to experiement with different foods. I felt pretty smart when realising I could try feed it a book. Pretty disappointing that it wouldn't eat the stove... stoves are tasty!

I wish there was more consequence to the monsters state changes. Maybe it would start wrecking stuff and I'm supposed to leave it spotless? Like David, I would have also liked to have a bit more physicality with the environment.

Performance drops pretty hard for me after playing for a bit. I guess clayxels get pretty GPU hungry at some point.

Cool entry!

Cool color scheme! And smooth visuals. I probably messed the room up more than the monster did. XD

Also wasn't too sure on what I was supposed to be doing.

I also would of given more force to throwing stuff around the environment. That would of collided and caused more chaos!

Haha, a real cookie monster! That monster gave me some anxiety for real.

Couldn't read the beginning letter, tried many times, it fades too quickly and is half broken.

Enjoyed throwing furniture around but didn't understand what I was trying to accomplish. I know feeding him cookies/books made him very rampagey which made me scared, but ultimately felt there was little purpose.

What if he were trying to eat cookies/books and you were trying to move furniture around/keep his interests elsewhere to keep him happy, and earned points for time spent being happy? That would make more sense to me :]

The letter is only shown for that short amount of time and then broken on purpose because we just want to give an idea that there are things you should and shouldn't feed it, and the point of the game is to try and find out which ones will keep him calm. That's it. We spent most of our time struggling to get it performant and obviously didn't succeed. The game design was quite neglected because of that, but its more supposed to be a playground where everything breaks. I think I wanted an ending where at some point time runs out and the owner comes back and then reacts depending on how destroyed the apartment is, and what mood the monster is in, but since you can't really place furniture properly back where it belongs, that would be too much too ask.

If people just throw stuff around and have fun, that's the most I'm expecting out of this prototype. And hopefully think its cute :P

Fed monster pizza, hot sauce and beer bottles. Now what?

Developer

Try feeding it cookies and books.

Very cute concept, unfortunately it brought my computer to my knees and I wasn't able to play much of it hopping between 1 and 60 frames per second every time I touched anything.
