If you have implemented the modifier, how have you done so?
There is a lot of mentions of things deemed supposedly "impossible" throughout the game.
Any additional information for voters?
I recommend interacting with everything so you don't miss anything!
In order to make it on time for the jam, we decided to release a demo version (called a "base game" as a joke) and it includes a lot of "missing content" jokes to make the cutting corners and abrupt end take advantage of the jam. Even after the full version gets released, this version will always remain up as the SBIG Edition since the demo had extra unique tailoring for this jam!

Lovely voice acting. I included it in my compilation video series of the ‘So Bad It’s Good’ Jam, if you’d like to take a look. :)
Thanks for playing! I am happy you enjoyed the voice acting ^^
I liked that the gameplay felt a bit like a 'Maid Simulator' in its current state! I saved this one to play as my last game of the jam! It was fun, I liked the effort that went into the voice acting and the story that was developing.
The ending is unfortunately a bit abrupt, I kind of hoped for one of the courses to not end in DLC warnings, since I would have liked to confirm my suspicions on what was going on in the plot!
Good work on the game! From how it seems, you're planning to further develop it outside the jam?
Hello! I am happy you are enjoying the game so far!
Yeah we ran out of time which was why it ended so abruptly, but I wanted to at least release something. The game is being furthered developed! I am currently working on eventing Ending 1 and will do the other 2 soon. I have been applying lines after I finish eventing a scene. I hope you'll enjoy the full version of the game when it's out, so stay tuned ^^
I see, I think I actually didn't read the description text and just auto-downloaded it, haha. I'll try to give it another run when there's a full(er) version, if I can!
Cool, hope you will enjoy it once it's up ^^
Hello! Just letting you know after a few months, I released RE/COUNT RE:VERSE full version last night!
unironically good tbh
Haha too much effort perhaps? Thanks for playing! ^^
This was good fun. I enjoyed the DLC jokes and whatever that cat thing was. Art and voice acting were top notch. Too good for this jam, I think.
Hahaha thank you very much!
The sound wouldn't play on Wine, so I couldn't get the voice acting. Other than that, it was pretty good while it lasted. I like the DLC jokes in particular.
Happy you enjoyed it! Ahh, I am sorry the sound didn't work for you! Glad you liked the DLC jokes~
I've decided to try using a standard format for all my feedback this time around. Please excuse me if I come across as overly curt or miss something important about your game. I'm writing these all quite hastily as there are a lot of games in the jam this year!
What I liked
Voice acting! And surprisingly good voice acting at that.
It's almost entirely stock RPG Maker assets, but it's visually pleasing. And the freshly-drawn character portraits are nice.
The premise and storyline is promising, but...
What I didn't like
The gameplay is quite tedious. The narrative, humor, and overall promise is enough to push me to keep playing but the implemented gameplay itself doesn't have a lot of appeal.
The story ended just as it was getting going. I know why this happened, but it's still disappointing.
The "please buy DLC" jokes were starting to wear thin by about halfway through the game. Again, I know why this happened, but it still gets fatiguing.
Did I think it was so bad it was good?
Honestly? No.
The storyline is a bit strange, but not bad. The voice acting is just good. The use of stock assets is lazy, maybe, but not really bad. Some of the jankiness like the constant DLC jokes just feels like your typical "jam is over and we're not done" last ditch saving throw. Overall it feels more like an ambitious but rushed and unfinished game than a so bad it's good game.
My thoughts on the modifier implementation
Impossible elements in the storyline? I think it's there, but the game also ended before they really came into play.
Other remarks
Recount makes me think of elections.
The story seemed cliched, but I feel like it is going to go in some weird direction at some point if the game was finished.
Some of the jokes landed but some of them didn't.
Verdict
I'm going to be honest, I finished this game disappointed. I don't think that reflects on this game itself so much as how Crystal Captor was a tough act to follow. While I had mixed feelings about some elements of that game, it was a big, well-made, and complete game that took first place that year.
All in all I don't feel this is a so bad it's good game, but I'm also excited for the finished product.
If you have any questions, comments, queries or concerns, please reply and I'll do my best to get back to you.
Thank you for the really thought out review! Honestly I wish I could've gotten the full project out, but you know haha, I do hope you will enjoy somewhat the finished project once we have it out (which should be sometime next month), and I am happy you enjoyed the voicework! Hahaha "recount" making you think of elections lol. I used that word to be like recounting back in memories xD
Impressive voice acting and writing. Very well done!
Nice job!
Thank you!
Wow, guys, you have such an incredible voice acting! I also really liked the drawings.
I'm so happy you liked the voice acting!! As well as the art, El.Seth did amazing on the characters and tashaj4de for the cover!
I enjoyed the bg music outside the library so much! I even restarted the game just to listen to it (once you go back to work, you can't exit the building). And the voice effects in the intro reminded me of a character in Catherine (even the voices were pretty similar!), so audio-wise this was very very cool.
Keep up the good work!
Ah yes, it is hard for me to find good town music, but I felt that particular piece matched, so glad it seemed to match enough for a game restart to hear it again haha. Glad you also liked the effects in the intro's lines (honestly it was simple reverb adjustment in Audacity--normally I work with a more echo-y reverb with another software, but since it can't make .ogg files, I had to do what I could in Audacity)
That voice acting was amazing! Didn't expect to hear something that good in a game jam game for SBIGJam.
Hahaha, thank you! Voiced games are my specialty, and me and my team do our best no matter how ridiculous the script is!
Wow, you've done it again! I had a lot of fun with this entry. I won't spoil too much, but I think the story, art, and VA really help to create an coherent narrative.
I really like how you adapted the game to accommodate the fact you were running out of time. I think that in some ways, it enhances the experience rather than negates. It does end rather abruptly, but to be honest, there is already a lot of content, so that you should be really proud with how large a game you've made in 9 days.
+ Bonus points for the references back to Crystal Captor.
Thank you so much! My team and I are really proud of this silly little project! I had fun making all those jokes due to the time crunch, and it was worth it, made this more tailored to the jam so it's staying up even after the full version gets released.
Glad you liked the references about CC! Thought since CC was about the end of cloaked guy's journey, why not show a glimpse of the beginning of his journey eons ago? I actually added the ref last minute, as I told myself "okay let's make an RM game not in the same world...." but then I couldn't resist haha.
Not my type of game but I like the graphics , music and voices.. you did a good job..
Thank you! I am happy you liked the art and voices~
